1975 Chevy Caprice (used, actually used to be a Fire Chief car in Michigan, cop stuff)
1974 Chevy Vega Cabriolet (looked nice, ran like crap)
1979 Ford Granada (pathetically nerdy but functional)
1964 Chevroley Corvair Monza (Convertible, fun as heck but maintenance was hell on wheels)
1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon (Tank. Loved it. Only car big enough that I felt safe in.)
1974 Plymouth Duster (Feather Duster, way too light but it was quick as heck!)
1983 Suzuki GS450 Motorcycle. (Sweet machine but it was gonna get me killed someday.)
1984 Ford Bronco II. (Outgrew it, couldn't carry kayaks so I gave it to my little brother, he still has it.)
2008 Ford F-150. That's a Manly-man truck that can carry my Kayak and go fishin'! I ain't buying anything but full-sized trucks ever again.

Well, right now my 2006 Cadillac CTS is sitting in the body shop with $13,000 damage to the rear end. They are going to fix it but I suspect it will never be the same.
In the meantime, I'm driving a 2009 CTS rental, courtesy of the other party's insurance co.

Was it gold?
I used to date a guy in college that drove a 1974 Oldsmobile something or other, and it WAS huge and was a tank. Him and his dad rebuilt/refurbished classic cars.

Nope, it was dark brown. Had a 4-barrel carb that was kind of funny because if you punched the gas, it would like "gasp" for a second and then coast, just for a little bit, like it was saying "are you serious about this?" and then you could hear the second set of barrels open wide and the car would accelerate like a bat out of hell. It would actually squall tires doing 55 MPH. It felt like the carburetors were sucking the oxygen right out of my lungs.
Obviously, I didn't floor that car often. Scared the heck out of me when it started lighting up the tires. Great car when it was being tame though.

a newly purchased Jetta (the Germans really know how to produce automobiles)
and a 1992 Maza 929 with about 90K miles on it.
(this is what it looks like exactly)
Looks like this
http://img1.classistatic.com/cps/kj/090804/742r2/544932k_19.jpeg
I don't know why i love it so much,
It's just an insane car, i never see any other 929 on the road. Whoever designed it was an absolute idiot.
The car has heated seats, cruise control, power windows, 8 speaker system.
BUT no cup holder, glove compartment, or digital clock, it actually has an old school clock with arms (I'm not kidding).
I never even upgraded the sound system in the car, It still has the original cassette player, and i keep a case with my surviving Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Soundgarden tapes in there, so it's basically a time machine to 1994 :)
I guess i just cant rid of it because of the sentimental value, I've had the thing since high school and im 33 years old now, it mostly sits in my garage.

Just got a new cattle guard for the Bronco and started working on the paint job. I really need to get some pictures of her when she is finished. Took the top off for the first time in its life yesterday and it was awesome!
She is now white with a flag hood. Going to get the sides airbrushed next week with one side being an ad for the Tea Party group here plus part of the Constitution and the other side is going to be a Field Artillery scene. The back has a "This Truck Kills the Environment" slogan! Adding lift kit after we get our tax return and then a system.
She only has 55,000 original miles, so I hope I get to have her for a long time.

1962 Volkswagon Beetle.
1200cc flat four. About 60hp (IIRC)
Re-wired from 6 to 12 volts.
Electric wiper fluid pump added. Original system used air pressure from the spare tire (I kid you not).
Oil filter added. Original system consisted of a small magnet to grab metal shavings (really).
Weight, approx 1600 lbs. (I think).
Top speed, 70mph with a tail wind (85 in neutral down a mountain road).

Actually the Genesis Coupe is only 20k to start and 25k fully loaded.Worked a couple of Genesis deals just last week and they must have seen the buyers coming from a mile away then b/c the Cp sold for $37k and the sedan for a bit over $39K.
Your price range sounds quite a bit more reasonable.
I see deals all the time where people have clearly been cheated out the wazoo and I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I've got Ford products.
Specifically a Crown Vic and a Grand Marquis (they're essentially the same car).
Always been a Ford man, mainly because my Granddad worked at the Ford Plant in Dallas for 35 years. When I was growing up, every year I got to go to the yearly company picnic and factory tour. Made an impression on me, I guess.
These big cars offer great benefits:
• Safety - they are among the safest cars on the road for passengers
• Mileage - Even with a V-8 I get about 25 mpg on the highway
• Affordable - You can buy a very good used Crown or Marque cheap
• Comfort - Its a living room on wheels, man
• Driveablility - When people see you coming up in their rear view mirror, they get out of the way :))

Always had a Toyota and a Honda. But no more Toyotas. Toyotas now have a deadly glitch and a nest of electronic gremlins in their computerized, electronically-controlled throttle system which is causing many of them to runaway due to unintended and sudden acceleration. Toyota owners feel very uncomfortable while driving them.
Toyota says if unintended and unwanted rapid acceleration happens, to just put the shift lever into neutral, coast down, stop and get out the vehicle. Fine! But according to many reports from consumers it doesn't always work. They say the engine is reving so fast that it won't go into neutral. And if the ignition switch is turned off while driving, all power steering and brakes are lost.
And Toyota dealerships are not being cooperative in this matter. They don't won't to discuss it and are rude, hostile, intimidating and insulting.
Toyota! No más! No Más!

I've been in the car business long enough to have a pretty good idea of what most brands customarily go for. I didn't notice if it was a cash deal or had a lien so interest rates aren't involved.

Toyota! No más! No Más!Sounds reminiscent of the 1986 60 Minutes hit piece on Audi and "unintended acceleration". Darn near put the dealership I worked at out of business and there wasn't a shred of proof offered. Of course, Audi did a poor job of defending itself.

I get the feeling that someone pulled a fast one. The only way I can think of that a Genesis Coupe would go for over $30k would be if you had an interest rate of well over 6%. and put all the optional equipment on in it.

2008 GMC Sierra. Got it last year brand new for a steal. What we paid for it a year ago is still under the low blue book today. I love it.
2008 Nissan XTerra. Great run-around car. Good back seat room. Nice off road handling.
1995 Chevy Silverado -- good condition -- hubby put some wood sides on it to make the bed higher, and he uses it when he goes and chops firewood so he can bring home a bigger load.
1997 Mazda pick-up. 200,000 trouble free miles -- one tune-up, new tires and brakes when needed. On its original battery.
We live in an area that is prone to severe weather, bad roads, etc. 4 wheel drives are a must. Our area is always being used for car commercials for "extreme" driving conditions.

2006 GMC Yukon (hubby)
2000 Ford Explorer 2 dr (kids)
Favorite vehicle I ever owned, LTD wagon with paneling on the sides--they had one like it on the Brady Bunch. Had the far back seat that flipped up. So big you could almost forget the pack o kids in the back when on a road trip.

$37K was the SALE price. Regardless of how it was financed or not financed.
Yes, I said from the beginning that someone saw this purchaser coming from a mile away.
Maybe your getting the Genesis and Genesis Coupe mixed up. They are separate models after all. The Genesis is a $30k+ luxury sedan designed to compete with the BMW 5-series and Lexus GS. The Genesis Coupe is the Tiburon replacement and is competing with the likes of the Mustang and Camaro.

I have a number of fun and weird cars, most of which are not restored at the moment, but I'm hoping to restore soon. Among them are two I'll bet nobody else on this forum has:
1975 Stinebaugh Leata pick-up truck. (One of only three in the world)
1962 BMW 600 Limosine (This is the four-seat version of the tiny Isetta)
I also have a '78 Fiat X 1/9, a '78 Fiat 124 Spyder, a '73 VW Westy Camper, a '61 VW single-cab pick-up truck (9' x 5' bed!) a '56 VW oval-window Beetle, a 1975 MGTD replica kit car, using an MG Midget 1275cc 4-cylinder engine in the front, instead of the ubiquitous VW in the rear, a 1975 Yamaha RD400 two-stroke twin, with ported cylinders and expansion chambers, (a heat-seeking missile!) and a 2001 Suzuki Intruder 1400VL, for cruising around Texas.
All the rest of my cars are booring.

Been doing title work since 1969.
