For general discussion and debate. Possible talking point: Organizing for America health care video finalist desecrates the American Flag with graffiti.

Do Democrats think this will help their cause?

As if you've never desecrated a flag.

Before you deny it consider: have you ever bought 4th of July napkins / plates / cups that have flags on them? Do you still have those items or did you desecrate the flag by throwing them into the trash. Have you ever bought a T-shirt with a flag on it and then washed it? Flag desecration occurs constantly but people only complain when they want to score a political point.

To paraphrase the late great George Carlin – let’s leave symbols to the symbol-minded.

As those items are not actual flags, that is not flag desecration as defined by law.

Further, the use of the image of the Flag of the United States as you have described is a violation of the United States Code for proper respect for the flag.

Additionally, washing your flag, and then ironing it, or having your flag professionally cleaned, is not a violation of any kind.

As such, I do not purchase these items, but patriotic themed items with similar colors instead.

The flag that the OP is so upset about isn't an actual flag either. Watch the video - someone painted a flag on a wall and then proceeded to paint slogans over it. Thats my point, she is all upset about that being flag desecration when its really no different than the things I mentioned.

Yes, I know.

I have posted at length on this; as there was no flag involved there is no issue.
