A former Florida teacher who had sex with a 14-year-old student wants to be allowed supervised contact with the children of her relatives and friends.
Former Tampa-area teacher Debra LaFave is serving seven years probation, and one of the conditions is a ban on contact with children. Her motion to ease that restriction is expected to be heard in court Thursday.

That seemed like a stupid provision in the first place. It's not like she went around banging every child she came into contact with. She had a VERY inappropriate relationship, yes. She's not what I'd call emotionally mature, no. But I don't think she's a danger to children everywhere.

Women who molest teen boys tend to be in love with the boy and visualize a future with that boy. I'm not saying thats rational, I'm merely pointing out their mindset. They see themselves in a relationship that isn't any different than an adult one except they know they have to keep it secret. They aren't really a threat to anyone except the original victim though the argument could be made that if they fell for a teen once they might do so again.
Men who molest girls or boys are doing it for the sex and power. They'll jump at any opportunity to molest.
As such, I don't see that LaFave is really a threat to be around family.

I note that she is asking to be allowed supervised contact with children of friends and relatives.
I see no problem with her attending the family Thanksgiving dinner, even if the kid's table is in the same room as the grown-up table.

I don't believe for a minute that women molesters are any different than men molesters.
There are several rogues galleries, floating around, of female teachers who have been busted. A large percentage of them were implicated with several kids- some as many as 6 or 8.
LaFave is lucky she didn't go to prison. She should thank her lucky stars and not be asking for any favors.
If she had been in Texas, she would be serving 10 to 20, if not more.

One only needs to peruse the list of sex offenders in ones area to see that nearly every female sex offender is fugly. LaFave is the exception not the rule.

I agree... She is not a danger to children in general. Denying her contact with minor relatives does those children as much harm as her.
Might not want her to become a Boy Scout Troop leader, but then again... :think:

Depends on the circumstances and if it were only one girl or many. In this teacher's case, I don't see why she shouldn't be allowed to see her relatives children. She isn't any harm.

How do you know she isn't any harm?
How do we know how many little boys she did?
She got caught with one. How many others did she get away with?
A child molester is a child molester. They can't be cured. The molest until they die or get locked up for life.
If this was a man who had sex with a 14 year old girl, we wouldn't even be talking about it. He would be in the pen.

when a 25 year old woman has sex with a 14 your old boy the level of outrage and pnishment should be determined by how good looking the woman is.. the hotter the woman, the less the punishment......
