quick rant..

So I'm going to Toronto for Christmas and leaving on the 22nd.

I price flight from DFW to YYZ and there's a non-stop flight AA 420 @ 7:15p. The Price is $276 w/taxes.

For the hell of it, I do from Houston to YYZ.... This is where it's messed up. If you start in Houston it offers a flight for $185 w/taxes...... Now, the messed up part is the sequence goes you fly into DFW and take a connecting flight, which just so happens to be the flight 420 @ 7:15........

So you take 2 flights from another city into DFW and pay $185
BUT you start off @ DFW and catch the SAME FLIGHT and you pay $276

What the hell.....

So frustrating. If Houston weren't 4 hours away, I'd go down there and then take that flight, but it's a waste of time/money to do so, so yeah. Stuck paying more when really, I shouldn't be lol.... so lame!

It is crazy.

I remember that well when I lived in the Dallas area.

I loved the Wright Amendment rules as well...

If I wanted to book a flight on Southwest, the cheapest fare, from Love Field to St Louis to go visit my folks I would have to have a layover and plane switch in Oklahoma.

If I drove to Houston I could book a non-stop flight to St Louis on Southwest.

This has been going on for some time.

Once I was flying from Charlotte to San Antonio. Turned out it would save money to rent a car in Charlotte, drive 1 1/2 hours down to Greenville, SC, then take a commuter flight back to Charlotte and get on the same plane bound for San Antonio.

One guy thought he would get smart and just buy the cheaper ticket, then board the plane in Charlotte. Didn't work out. They wouldn't let him board there unless he came in from Greenville.

It did work out on the return flight, as long as you didn't check bags. If you had only carry-on you could just get off the flight in Charlotte and leave. The savings were worth the extra trouble.
