my boss has not come into work today.......
his bosses have stopped by asking if i know anything......
his phone is either dead or turned off....... his home just gets the answering machine.....
this guy was in the navy for 6 years and worked at this company for the last 10 years...... he has no record of doing anything like this.......
i am getting pretty worried about it........
i have only been on this assignment for 4 months, so i am not sure what to do about it myself......

Were you eating extra loud cereal the last time you spoke with him?
You both may have been canned.

Of course you told them he'd called in sick and left you in charge, right? Then you drafted a letter from him to payroll giving yourself a 150% raise. You didn't? Oh man, what an opportunity missed. :wall:

I once had a boss who didn't come in or call. Couple of days in a row. She owned the company--lived and breathed it.
After the 3rd day of this nonsense, as her Office Manager, I called police to meet me at her house for a welfare check.
She was laying dead in her bed. No signs of foul play or break in.
They never did find out what happened to her at autopsy. Ruled natural causes.
Company closed while her estate was in probate (her parents took over and had no desire to continue her company) and we were all out of a paycheck.

Sounds to me like a fraud... they should investigate... file charges.

Vaard, I respect you for your compassion and empathy and concern.
It's people like you who can make a difference.
Some people worry about themselves and what they will be perceived as if they worry, and they stunt compassion for ego.
I sincerely applaud you for your concern. There are many people who can thank people like you because their cries for help were heard without them ever having uttered an audible word.
I'm glad there was a happy outcome to this.
