I KNEW this was going to happen. (That way Obama wasn't lying when he said illegals would not be able to get medical coverage under his ObamaCare plan. His simple fix is to make them all legal first.)
EVERY ONE--PLEASE TAKE TIME TO LISTEN TO THIS--IT TELLS ABOUT THE BILL GOING THRU CONGRESS RIGHT NOW REGARDING IMMIGRATION.
EVEN CNN IS GETTING UPSET ABOUT THIS!!!!!!!!!!
Pass this on after you watch it. NOTICE THAT THIS IS FROM CNN, NOT FOX!!!

Even the Mexicans want those that cross to cross....remember Castro cleaning out his jails? Most of the crossers are migrant farmers but Mexico wants the poorest to leave as well...funny they don't practice what they preach on THEIR southern border.

You may want to bullet point the parts of the bill that Lou Dobbs isolates; that will stimulate more discussion.
The link & lag to the video is kind of annoying.

OMG! Congress thinks they got tons of calls over healthcare and spending? just wait til they try to pass this with an unemployment rate heading towards double digits, and add to that these people won't be paying taxes because they're low income, and they'd become eligible for social service programs.

You're dreaming! I still don't believe the 20% number that ABC is espousing like the good little water carriers that they are. Rasmussen had a 32.5% number for people calling themselves Republican. You think way too much of yourself.
As for the amnesty bill? I have no doubt the likes of Schumer are going to propose it to Obama like he said months ago, but if the Democrats are smart they'll rein the liberals in who want to pass this.

Because you have to have a bill number for there to be a bill that Congress can vote so it can become a law.

Otherwise Lou Dobbs is just doing what he does, whipping up anti immigrant hysteria and looking for Obama's birth certificate.
I'm for a streamlined path to citizenship for illegal immigrants that are already in the US for XX period of time. I'm not too interested in any of the guest worker proposals that have been bandied about. We don't need to be repeating the mistakes of the Phrench and Germans.

Obama: Legalize illegals to get them health care
Republicans see a backdoor move toward 'amnesty'
Friday, September 18, 2009
By Stephen Dinan
President Obama said this week that his health care plan won't cover illegal immigrants, but argued that's all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.
He also staked out a position that anyone in the country legally should be covered - a major break with the 1996 welfare reform bill, which limited most federal public assistance programs only to citizens and longtime immigrants.
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken," Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. "That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.
Mr. Obama added, "If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."
Republicans said that amounts to an amnesty, calling it a backdoor effort to make sure current illegal immigrants get health care.

Well here's the most recent article on Obama and amnesty, so there's no doubt that Obama wants amnesty:
I hate to admit it but Obama is right in the push for amnesty. I know some people are angry and frightened by the idea but the problem is massive - 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants in the US right now. They work off the books, under the radar and tax our social services networks. At some point we have to decide what we are going to do with illegal aliens. Ignoring the problem isn't an answer.

Like they would pay taxes anyway if they were legalized? let's be honest here, the overwhelming majority of illegals are working low income jobs, if legalized they would earn such a low salary they wouldn't have any tax obligations, but they would be eligible for social service programs such as food stamps, rental assistance, welfare etc. they'll cost us more then they'll contribute, add to that the fact that those 12-20 million can bring their immediate families in, that would be what? 50-80 million new residents? all eligible for social service programs, eligible to use the school system and put a strain on our system? who's paying for that? idiots like me.
With an unemployment rate approaching double digits? it's insane IMO to even propose something like this.
I say penalize those who employ them, dry up the well and they'll go home. We're not talking an immigrant population like it was in the past, we're talking about people who come here for the money then eventually go home, they isolate themselves and have no desire nor need to assimilate, they drive down wages and take jobs from Americans. What's the unemployment rate in the black community? what would it rise to if illegals become legal?

What baffles me is that no president that I remember since Ford has discussed or pushed this issue. Congresses have come and went, both Democratic and Republican controlled, and nothing gets done. Both political sides have shrugged their shoulders when in power and let the issue grow to the point it's hopelessly out of control.

Gee, I wonder if that has anything to with the eruption of racism, xenophobia, and nativism like we witnessed when Rove decided it would be a good election issue for Republicans in 2006. It's almost like these Presidents know what country they live in.

I can't totally blame Democrats, Republicans are just as bad. To me immigration isn't a Republican versus Democrat issue at all. It just seems as though no 1 is taking into account the effect of making 12-20 million people legal, then making their families legal too. Reagan only made 2 million legal and he admitted afterwards it was a mistake.
It's outrageous how out of control the system is, why does it take 10 years for people to come here legally? that part of the system has to be over-hauled. I have no problem with immigration, as long as it's legal and as long as we can control the amount that comes in. I just feel like the taxpayer is being stretched as it is, and if we accept possibly 80 million people? there's no way people like me can handle it financially. Why should my family have to pay more so that new legalized residents can reap the benefits through social service programs?

FYI that video was aired on May 27, 2007. The full quote was ""I promised the President today that I would not say anything bad about this piece of !@#$ bill...." and the President was Bush, it was a bill he supported and hoped to sign into law. The bill was co-sponsored by Senators John McCain and Ted Kennedy. Senate Republicans thought there was a 50/50 chance of it getting passed, most of the lobbying was towards Democrat senators. It was rejected in June 2007.
It's currently being recirculated by about a half-dozen "conservative" websites to spawn forum conversations such as this. People assume that since it's from Lou Dobbs, who is known for being anti-illegal immigration, that it's true since FOX has dubbed MSNBC and CNN as opposition. They also assume it's current, that it's sponsored by Democrats, and Obama, and is sneaky attempt to get things through while health reform is being discussed.

Wow. Someone deleted my earlier posting of this. Fact check this; opening post wants you to be lied to. This bill is NOT circulating in Congress, and Dobbs was referring to a McCain/Kennedy bill from May 2007 that died June 2007. The video is over 2 years old, youtube it and look for the post date.

In more timely news --
I just heard Dobbs is leaving CNN. dont have the specifics but he will be looking around for a new network... or perhaps a political job outside of television.
