A 6 yr old may go to reform school for bringing a boy scout meal pack to school because of bringing a fork spoo n and knife set to school? How far have we fallen?

It's becoming obvious ...we can not even INDEPENDENTLY feed ourselves now. No independence is allowed. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Weblos teach you self reliance and independence (even if in a very small way here, and there's more to come should you advance further in that organization/group) This Can Not be allowed you know.
We must be told how the government wants to eat the politically correct way! Do not be surprised if one day down the road you read 'Government wants you to eat with hands and fingers!' This has been an approved PSA

He applying to West Point and had a pocket knife in his car?!
In this day an age I think I'd have to nominate him to be at least a 2nd Lt!!
(If he had, heaven forbid, a real gun in his car, I'd rally to help him get ratified a Colonel before Congress, wow ..imagine a soldier ..training to be a warrior and an Officer would know about weapons?!!! Shocking!!)

This what "zero tolerance" and/or "mandatory sentences" brings you. We could fill a thread with good kids who got expelled for bringing asprin to school.

I have represented school kids at numerous school board expulsions meetings. Here are some example of cases I handled and the end result:
1. Kid brings single edged razor blade to school to help teacher clean stickers off classroom window. Expulsion upheld and graduation denied. Student had to take home classes and received his diploma the next year in the mail.
2. Kid gets beaten up at school. He fights back. Teachers ONLY see him fighting back but they DO believe he was acting in self-defense. School board felt different and ruled he should have not fought back and should have made a report to the Principal. Expulsion upheld but student was allowed to finish at alternative school (i.e. special school for expelled kids and delinquents). This was a 1985 case I handled. Since then the kid graduated college, became a Deputy Probation Officer, and supervises juveniles from the same school.
3. Kid found with Sharpie marking pen. As a result he was suspended for a week. But LAPD found graffiti on a wall over a mile away and claimed kid wrote it because the handwriting looked similar. In juvenile court (where kids never win), he won. The school did not care and expelled him anyway. Upheld by the school board.
4. Kid brings medicine to school prescribed by his father who is an MD. The medicine was to control his high blood pressure. Had he reported the medicine to the school nurse she would have kept it and administered it to him. But because he did not report it, he was expelled. Upheld by the school board. No alternative school offered.
I have other examples but I think you can see the picture. These cases were all LA Unified School District.
