Here's your government involvement in healthcare.

STATE SLAPS DR. DO-GOOD

The state is trying to shut down a New York City doctor's ambitious plan to treat uninsured patients for around $1,000 a year.

Dr. John Muney offers his patients everything from mammograms to mole removal at his AMG Medical Group clinics, which operate in all five boroughs.

"I'm trying to help uninsured people here," he said.

His patients agree to pay $79 a month for a year in return for unlimited office visits with a $10 co-pay.

But his plan landed him in the crosshairs of the state Insurance Department, which ordered him to drop his fixed-rate plan - which it claims is equivalent to an insurance policy.

Thank you, government, for getting involved and destroying our healthcare.

This is what is wrong with healthcare. It is OVER regulated.

That guy has to charge more and jump through more hoops just to process claims through insurance companies. It was probably a win-win, and he knew it, except it infringes on the monopoly protection that the government has given insurance companies. The same insurance companies they have demonized.

kill the free market and scream that free market doesn't work. it's laughable.

Agree. This also just proves even further that it is all about control.

This reminds me of the guy they arrested right after Hurricane Charlie came through here in 04. The guy had a chainsaw and was going through the neighborhoods cutting the tree branches and stuff down for people. He asked them to pay a dollar or two for his gas. They arrested him because he was trying to be paid and he wasn't a licensed contractor.
