Does this mean tha the IOC is "Racist"?

We'd better get a reaction from Fromer Pres. Jimmy Carter on this.

Even worse, it means they're Nazi's.
I have it on good authority that Brad Pitt and a small group of vicious Jews are being air dropped outside Copenhagen as we speak.

How can you have a "loss of jobs" when those jobs never existed?

mmm-mmm-mmm Obama failed.

He should have not gone there. Who wants to have any sport in Chicago. The place is corrupt. Remember the Chicago White Sox. I think it will bother Michell more. She is actually a pretty cool woman

Oh come on. You know what he meant. The Olympics coming to Chicago would have created, jobs. Those jobs are now "lost".
You might as well say, "How could we have lost the Olympics when they were never here in the first place?".

The Black Sox!? :))
Seriously!? You're citing a ninety year old scandel!?
And cons criticize libs for talking about Bush less than a year after he left office. Hi-sterical.

As too who wants to have any sport in Chicago: The Chicago Cubs, The Chicago White Sox, The Chicago Blackhawks, The Chicago Bears, The Chicago Bulls, The Chicago Fire. And that's just the Pro teams. What's your town got?

It's Lula and his buddies at Rio. They even tore the F1 track down so they could build a new city-owned sports complex. Even bigger is this is the first South American Olympics, and could also be set for a winter date. Realistically, we could see the Summer Games held in February (summer in the Southern Hemisphere) or in December. A February Summer Olympics would be a huge ratings winner. The Northern Hemisphere is in the colds of winter, and the Summer Olympics in Rio during their summer would be different.

In 2000, the Summer Olympics took place in the winter (SH), and it was a disaster for athletes. In 1956, the Summer Olympics in the Southern Hemisphere took place in the summer (December).

Perception is everything (well a lot anyway)... I wonder how much the recent widely publicized of an honor student being beaten to death by street thugs had to do with the IOC decision.

Don't ever walk there with anything of value in plain sight (including a gold medal). I'm sure Rio cops will be cleaning all that up before the games start --- and probably filing up the cemetaries in the process.

There was never a guarantee of the Olympics coming to Chicago. It was all speculation as far as what the Olympics would have meant economically to the city, just as it is speculation when a company puts in a bid for a contract. If the contract isn't granted, the company looks elsewhere to find business and revenue, just as Chicago will now have to do. This happens every single day in America.

As I said... perception is everything. The perception of Europeans is that Chicago is a crime ridden city full of gangsters. Rio has a serious street crime problem too, but their international image is quite the opposite of Chicago's. And it is not just Europeans or other foreigners... What is the first city that comes to mind when you are doing the NYT Crossword puzzle when the clue is "carnival city"? What city would you first try to fit into the spaces when the clue is "gangster city"?

What would they be saying if McCain was president?

Probably that you'd have to be out of your ever-lovin' mind to have the summer olympics in Phoenix, Arizona. Ever seen a javelin thrower need an oven mitt to pick up his pole?

McCain wouldn't have dishonored the office of the Presidency by begging for a sporting event to benefit his home town anyway. That's the job of a Mayor or at maximum maybe a Governor.

Obama doesn't really have the political experience for the Presidency.

Anyone carrying a medal will have no problem inside the Olypmic green zones, as would have been the case in chicago. As for the average Olympics visitor? That is another story entirely.

I was glad that Chicago did not get the games. The city has a budget deficit this year or $300 million and the state has a budget deficit of $11.5 billion.

Where were they going to get the $5 billion up front money to build for the games?

Why the federal government of course, the crooks would skim off about $3 billion before any of it was spent on the actual work.

I think liberals honestly do not get the concept of 'flat broke'. Government has magical money in unlimited supply.

Where were they going to get the $5 billion up front money to build for the games?

"The Rich". Stock answer for lunatic liberals. Variations include "The Wealthiest One Percent", "Those Making Over $250,000 Per Year" and the ever popular "Winners Of Life's Lottery".

Why the federal government of course, the crooks would skim off about $3 billion before any of it was spent on the actual work.

I think it would be way more than that. You're assuming that the $5 Billion would stay on budget and of course it never would. Costs have a way of doubling and tripling when the feds have the checkbooks out.
