Whether Obama played a role or not, I can't understand why anyone would be against an American city hosting the Olympics.

Cause they live and work in that city. At least that's why I am.

I lived in Atlanta when the Olympics were there. It wasn't that bad.

Because President Obama is from Ill. That's all some people need.

I am not against Chicago hosting the games, if any bunch could wrestle a profit from such an event it would be the Chicago bunch. :)
I have no delusions that the games in Chicago will have any financially beneficial effect for us down state outcasts.
Chicago is 277 miles away, so I am thinking it just might be a chance for me to finally make it to an Olympics for some events if they get chosen.

I would love for Chicago to get the Olympics if the residents would benefit from it, but as we've seen with Chicago politicians, that isn't going to happen.

I don't know anything about Atlanta but the logistics involved with the number of people and events they propose to have on or near the lake front are a nightmare.

I'm a bit greedy about the Chicago olympic bid.
The thought of being less than a 3 hour drive away from the olympics sounds good to me....just close enough to join the party, far enough away to not hassle my everyday life.

As far as actually attending any olympic events though, open up that wallet.
I recently looked into going to Vancouver for the the winter olympics, see the sights, catch a hockey game , an event or two....
...until I realized it would cost me about $1500 a day, not including travel and lodging.
ouch

If Chicago gets the Olympics, I might have a chance to serve as part of the extended security at the event.

Yup, it's down to four (I think) and last I heard Chicago led the voting, though that could easily change.

Guess your magic leader better stick to pulling rabbits out of a hat. Chicago was the first to be eliminated.
I wonder if Bam Bam showing up was actually *counter*-productive....

I wonder how much this will end up costing the American taxpayer. All other Olympic venues went over budget into the billions of dollars. And Chicago being the most corrupt, inept city in America isn't going to help us...
