View Full Version : Obama to bring thousands of Union Jobs to Chicago . . .

CaptainCrunch

If Obama is able to pull off bringing the Olympics to Chicago just think of all the Union Jobs he'll be able to create not to mention how much money will go to SEIU.

Perhaps during Obama's 2nd term he could be the Grand Marshall of Ceremonies during the Olympics and he could make a Grand Speech for all of the world to hear.

I'm sure that Chicago will get it, as the Olympics committee will be inclined to give to them if for no other reason than Obama asked, no demanded it. I'm sure they don't want to be viewed as racist by saying no. Plus with the power of Oprah, it's gotta be a done deal!

So you guys are all for more jobs as long as they are not union jobs??

Or you don't want more jobs for Chicago cause Obama does?

I am trying to understand here

What specifically remids you of Jimmy Hoffa?

I will go out on a limb here and say, even if the clown handed Chicago half on the stimulis bill, he will still lose in 2012...

I just figured out where the stimulus money is going to go.

union workers erecting the village.

we need jobs for people that will last past an event.

People are still employed today at the olympic sites in Atlanta. The city was transformed for the better with all the infastructure and most reasonable people that live their say it is the best thing to ever happen to Atlanta. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would ever in my life see people oppose the Olympic games comming to a US city. 2009 American politics is just stupid at best but what I cannot believe is that conservatives are willing to destroy their credibility by opposing the games in Chicago.

if it weren't Chicago, under the Chicago 7 crooks, I would like it to be there.

I just know that this will line the pockets of all O's friends that will sell their property for huge profits and go on ruining this country for good.

that's my only opposition.

First let me say I will keep your son in my prayers.

Secondly, conservatives do not oppose the Olympics being anywhere, even in Chicago, but that's not the point. This is 2009 and the Olympics that are being bid for are in 2016, some 7 years away. Any shovel-ready jobs for the Olympics won't be ready for a few years when unemployment is 9.8% now and the jobs and the Obama stimulus plan just keeps making things worse not better.

Besides, in that time we could lose the war in Afghanistan and be hit again by Al Qaeda again, maybe at the Olympics, if we do lose the war.

Why is it necessary for Obama to pitch for the Olympics when there is so much else he needs to be working on?

Besides it seems that it is the people of Chicago who are bitterly divided over the Olympics, not the rest of the country.

The free market's a bitch, *******s get to make money too. That is how Atlanta made the games work for their city, by tapping into the free market with all the sponsorships.

Dennis Miller and O'Reilly's take on it is funny.

MILLER: Billy, I think it would be great in Chicago, when you think about it. Blago could be the mascot.

You know, he looks kind of cartoonish. "Hey, kids, want a job in the Senate?"

And then Ayers could bring the incendiary device in and light the — you know, light the Olympic torch.

We can have — we can have Rev. Wright do the invocation.

O'REILLY: Invocation.

MILLER: The thing is pre-made.

O'REILLY: "God damn America." That would liven up the crowd. That would make Bob Costas's head whip back, you know? There you go.

MILLER: That would make Sports Center.

Could be, I dunno. The same thing happened in Atlanta probably.

I'm thinking about all the bartenders, waitresses, construction workers, taxi drivers, bus drivers, parking attendants, resturant managers, retail stores, car rental agents, small business owners, police and fire dept overtime, convience store owners, truck drivers, etc. I could go on typing all night listing the people that will benefit from the Olympics. Like I told someone last night, I am kinda sensitive to those people cause my wife and I worked in the service industry for many years and stuff like this was huge for us. I just cannot see how the games would have an overall negative effect on Chicago and the US.

I make my living building things. I am a tradesman. These jobs that you don't think are good ones provide a good life for my family and I and millions others like us. The olympics in Chicago would provide good jobs to tradesman in Illinois and because of the size of a project like that it would also probably employ thousands from other states. I make my living everyday and have no need for welfare or food stamps on jobs that you don't think are good permanent ones.
