Internecine struggles within the Democratic controlled Illinois city of Cahokia have led to 191 charges filed against four men.
This is too much!
CAHOKIA -- [Democrat] Mayor Frank Bergman said Thursday he wants two newly elected village trustees tossed off the board after being charged with numerous vote fraud felonies.
Bergman said village attorney Robert Sprague asked a St. Clair County judge for an order that would stop trustees Kyle Johnson and Trevon Tompkin from taking their board seats or conducting any village business.
Both men pleaded not guilty Wednesday to vote fraud charges ranging from perjury to illegally marking the ballot of another person.
Neither Johnson nor Tompkin could be reached for comment Thursday, and they declined comment Wednesday.
Also arraigned and pleading not guilty Wednesday were village employees Kevin Wiggins, the husband of Village Clerk Bernadette Wiggins and William L. Brown.
A total of 191 charges were filed against the four men.
"The election is fraudulent," Bergman said.
