"Out of more than 277,000 veterans who have filed for the college tuition benefits this semester, more than 200,000 claims have been processed and approved, but fewer than 11 percent of the veterans have received the funding, according to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA).
The group says it has been contacted by thousands of veterans who have not received their benefits and that they are forced to take out loans or pay the money out of their pockets."
They cant even handle 277,000 claims from veterans.

I had issues when trying to use my GI Bill money, and that was several years ago...

The VA funded my first 4 years of college and I wound up volunteering for them after I graduated.
Marvelous people who do great work for people that deserve our gratitude.
Sometimes things move slow but they always get done.

A 34 day cycle to approve GI Bill benefits is too slow. I'm sure they refine the process some as they get used to the new program.
Wish I qualified but I never took the GI Bill while I was in the service.

I have often wondered why it takes so long to get a tax refund check...If I do my taxes as soon as i can...And i get say $5000.00 back. I don't get that check until sometime in April...How come if I do my taxes in February, I don't get a check until two months later...It is money i over paid...I should be able to get it back as soon as a week. What they can't get their hands on it?

They have known since March of this year they didnt have the man power to process the upcoming claims for this semester. Instead of fixing the problem they ignored it placing a huge burden on thousands of veterans. Im not faulting the individuals who work and volunteer at the VA. Im faulting this horrible administration. Again this is just one more reason in a HUGE pile of reasons that the govt isnt qualified or capable of dealing with something like national healthcare.

No kidding.
Can you imagine national healthcare with a 89% failure rate to pay?
