Sarah is still going strong and hopefully laying groundwork for the defeat of Joe Biden in the 2012 election (after Obama resigns for crimes).

Former US vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin said the US government was wasting taxpayers' money and could aggravate poverty, said delegates at her first speech outside North America on Wednesday.

Some of those who attended praised her forthright views on government social and economic intervention and others walked out early in disgust.

"She was brilliant," said a European delegate, on condition of anonymity.

Whoopsie. I didn't see your thread when I was starting mine.

My link was from Bloomberg where the harshest criticism was that it was a speech that one man found bordered on boring .

She spoke to a full house.

No, I think you just decided not to post the rest of the paragraph.
Palin " who's never been to East Asia and isn't exactly famous for her mastery of public speaking or her expertise in finance and international affairs " might seem an unusual choice for an event that, according to CLSA, is Asia's premier investment conference providing unrivalled corporate access to 1,300 global fund managers from 32 countries, representing more than $10 trillion in funds under management. CLSA spokeswoman Simone Wheeler says that orators at the forum often come from outside the securities industry. Our keynote speakers are always notable luminaries, and they usually address subjects that go beyond finance, such as geopolitics, she says. Our goal is to provide investors a diversity of views.

Correct...she's not the one who requested it be kept from the CLSA...which is what my quote from the article stated.

All she said was that she'd alter the speech a bit for the media (which is totally understandable and commonplace) but the CLSA made the request.

Let's review that quote from Breitbart....

1. The CLSA says they took the initiative to exclude the media. Correct?
2. The CLSA says they made that decision due to the fact that Palin would have to change her speech a bit. Correct?
3. If you answer "yes" to the preceding two questions, my point stands. If you answered "no" to either of the two questions, I'd like for you to post a reference that states otherwise.

Is there any major economy out there that did not have government intervention in the financial system during this crisis(well aside from Canada, the only major economy not to see its banking system fail because it already had regulations in place)

She seem's to be taking Reagan political talking points and thinking they apply to the world as a whole. Next she'll be giving a speech in London about the dangers of socialized medicine and its lack of coporate freedom

Likely not.

As much as I occasionally enjoy listening to Rush, Glenn, and some amounts of Sean, they are quite partisan. I don't think that's a secret. I guess when you're on the radio that much every day, you're bound to contradict yourself. I'll admit, I am known to do it on occasion.

Obama got into office by bashing the President. Then he bashed the United States-that's you and me-although you probably didn't lump yourself into the 'United States' that Obama was trashing at the time.

Sounds like you agree with me then.

1. At the behest of Palin, yes.
2. At the behest of Palin, yes.

Likely not.

As much as I occasionally enjoy listening to Rush, Glenn, and some amounts of Sean, they are quite partisan. I don't think that's a secret. I guess when you're on the radio that much every day, you're bound to contradict yourself. I'll admit, I am known to do it on occasion.

CLSA, an arm of French bank Credit Agricole, however, decided to close Palin's session to the media after the former Alaska governor indicated that she would have to adjust her speech if reporters were present, Slone said.

"We have asked her to address US foreign policy, to discuss her views on governance, healthcare, and of course, China," said Jonathan Slone, chief executive officer of the Asia-focused brokerage, quoted by AFP.

I don't see anything that says it was at her behest. And I don't think it is unreasonable to think someone might temper what they say if the media is present. Sounds like speaking off the record to me - ever heard of that concept? So they wanted to hear an untempered talk and decided to keep the media out....probably their prerogative. Maybe a bit like controlling how many dissenters can get in the room for events back in this country maybe?

Quote:

Mr. Goodé, an African-American who said he did some campaign polling for President Obama, said Mrs. Palin mentioned President Obama three times on Wednesday.

“And there was nothing derogatory in it, no sleight of hand, and believe me, I was listening for that,” he said, adding that Mrs. Palin referred to Mr. Obama as “our president,” with the emphasis on “our.”

Mr. Goode is a regional marketing consultant who was in attendance. As an Obama supporter he would be the first to call foul if there were any.

I'm pretty sure you don't know me. The Dixie Chicks can say whatever they want. If they feel that strongly about it, all power to 'em. And, yes, Obama apologized for being an American, in my view. That would be fine if he were just a singer or paid speaker. But he's the president of the United States Of America and represents this country. He does NOT represent my view of this country. She wasn't trashing the President, she was telling the truth about him. Obama, on the other hand, trashes the entire country -- you and I included -- and blames us for the world's problems.

The left thinks any criticism of Obama is a personal attack on the man himself and more specifically on his race which is a crock of crap. The criticism we have as conservatives about Obama are solely based on his policies and actions as President.

If Obama were running the country as a President should be, no one would be criticising him; except the liberals who don't believe in the United States as visioned by our founding fathers but a United States as envisioned by Joseph Freaking Stalin.
