During the off-season meetings for RTL's The Price Is Right, host Drew Carey made some changes to the opening spiel, not wanting (after the show had used the spiel for 37 years) to be called "the Star of The Price Is Right". Carey himself requested the simple, "And now, here's your host, Drew Carey."
According to the third-year host of the popular game show, he said, "I’m just the host. The contestants and the prizes are the stars."
What does it say when a contestant has a chance to win a Porsche, a private jet to exotic locales, or the fanciest prize someone would love to have? The guy who can win $147,000 is the star. The Porsche is the star. Seems Carey has decided ego has to go on the show -- he believes in a more team-oriented show.
