View Full Version : Do You Have a Survival Plan?

I was just bouncing around on Facebook and found a friend who posted a note listing all of the "Survival Items" he keeps in his house. It was a pretty extensive list.
It got me wondering, does anyone else have a "Survival Plan" in the event of a major catastrophe? I don't, personally, but it might not be a bad idea. :)
Note: I didn't put this is WP because I'm not trying to imply anything about the political atmosphere in America, so please do not assume that I think Obama is going to try to pull off a military coup or anything. Thanks!!

We're usually well stocked up on food because we buy a lot in bulk, and we have plenty of batteries and flashlights on hand, the only thing we don't have and we've had to borrow from my FIL, is a generator, I really think that would be something good to invest in, especially in the winter, just having the ability to hook up the portable electric heaters when it's cold would make buying a generator worth it.

I think a generator is probably one of the best things to invest in. I have some stuff, but after seeing this guy's list, I feel woefully inadequate :)

We stock up for tornado season. Food, water, batteries, camera, and beer, gas for the car, and a few extra blankets, oh and beer. You can't make it through tornado season without a camera, beer, and a good vantage point.

:)) Awesome.
Everytime I see your name, I wonder if it's the "K. High" that I know. Then I see your pics and I'm like "Oh, yea, duh." :)

My family doesn't. We don't have any tornadoes or hurricanes in Southern California (a somewhat mild rain is considered a huge storm by the media). If there is a nuclear attack or something, well, I don't really know if I want to live through that, lol.

What about a war without nukes? Wouldn't you want somewhere to bunker down?

interesting topic. While we lived in wichita kansas we kept a generator and non-perishable goods in the garage. thats about it. Besides, we decided if there was a tornado, we were probably going to die anyway.
Once, we had a funnel cloud in front of our house, and it started descending, my mom was babbling about getting to the closet and garage... and my dad was just like, "well... too late" cause it was RIGHT there, we could see the tornadoe forming, and inside my mind, i was like. "Damn, never even got to swim this summer" :) cause alley park had yet to open, and we had no membership at the YMCA,
we are a very calm family, so we were just standing there staring at it, fortunately, the tornado didnt touch down there, but .5 miles away. Completely demolishing a mobile home park.

You talking long term or short term (less than 30 days). Yes I have a plan for both short term and long term. And supplies to match. ;)

I find weak people and take advantage of them and rob them. Bullying is a plan all in it's own because passive people will always lose out. :))
