So I was listening to the legendary song "Imagine" by John Lennon. Since I was a child, I always loved the song; but never listened to the words. While I will always appreciate the brilliant musical artistic merits of the John Lennon classic; it was only recently that I began to listen to the lyrics (you can find them here http:../../..www...lyricsmode...com/..lyrics/..j/..john_..lennon/..imagine.html (http://www.msplinks.com/MDFodHRwOi8vd3d3Lmx5cmljc21vZGUuY29tL2x5cmljcy9qL2 pvaG5fbGVubm9uL2ltYWdpbmUuaHRtbA==) ) and realize just how left wing and atheistic the song is. I like John Lennon and I like the Beatles; but I felt compelled to pen an alternative version.

So... tell me what you think. I have a friend of mine who is working on making an actual (not for profit) recording of it. I'd love to have it played at a tea party or something. Thank you and God bless.

IMAGINE (Conservative Version)

by Paul Kondor Poduszlo

Let's make America Heaven
It's easy if we try
Drill for oil below us
Above us Old Glory flying high
Imagine all the people
Fiscally thinking beyond today

Love those who defend our country
Do anything, they can
Remember those who died for it
A band of brothers that left behind not one man
Just so that all the people
Can live life in liberty-..y-y-y-y...

Our Founding Fathers were dreamers
But now the U.S.A. is number one
Many from all lands have joined us
E Pluribus Unum, "Out of many, one"

Keep your money and your possessions
'Cause work hard you do
Freely speak of the Savior who died for us
Pray and practice your religion too
Imagine all the people
Gathering here today...

Congress reading all the bills
It isn't hard to do
No government greed nor corruption
And no bail outs, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in liberty-..y-y-y-y

It started with a dreamer
The Tea Parties up and sprung
I hope someday you'll join us
E Pluribus Unum, "Out of many one."

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

First of all, I'm very familiar with the way the melody is SUPPOSED to go, and your lyrics don't fit well with it at all.

Sorry, not only do the words not fit the music, but "Congress reading all the bills" and "fiscally thinking beyond today" just don't have the poetic ring of the original, whatever you may think of Lennon's politics.

Freely speak of the Savior who died for us
Pray and practice your religion too

Isn't that kind of contradictory?

I got to the drilling for oil part and then couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes.

Well my comments have been deleted, that's a shame as they were very sensible but never mind eh...
