Think about it.
Obama gets into office and has a filibuster-proof Democrat Congress. So basically, he and his cohorts of the left can do whatever they want without anyone saying otherwise.
But aside from the stimulus bill, Republicans have been dictating much of what Obama's been doing - or at least stopping much of what he wants. And Republicans have no power.
- Look at this healthcare bill - Republicans are out, Democrats are confused and not on the same page. Pressure from the public and the few Republicans in office were able to force the Dems to remove the ridiculous public option.
- Public pressure and the few Republicans were able to amp up the concern and anger over ACORN, so now ACORN is on it's way out.
- Van Jones was exposed as a poor decision of Obama and he was ousted
- Troops still occupy Iraq and Afghanistan
- Cap & Trade is dead in the Senate
Sounds like Obama is either weak or is not fully trusting of his policies.

You're right, Bummer and the Dims have the numbers, but want sooooooo desperately for just one or two GOP votes for their programs so that the blame can be spread.
Snowe and McLouse seem to have figured out that they are going to be left to twist in the wind when they are the only GOPers voting for Dim items, and aren't willing to make targets for abuse of themselves by doing what they have always done and voting with the opposition.
As odious as Bummer and the Dims agenda is, it could be a lot worse, but amazingly enough the GOPers, not known for having much of a backbone, have generally stood firm......so far.....

Part of the reason is that the blue dog dems are conservatives (heck, some are more conservative than some republicans). Our system is designed so that a well organized minority doesn't get bulldozered by the majority all the time. Our Founders wanted it that way. They realized the less easy it is for any one group to make all the decisions, the better off we are.
Also, that's why, despite having a Republican House and Senate, that GW Bush couldn't simply do whatever he wanted.

I wouldn't give Republicans too much of the credit. The opposition has been much more than that.

its not republicans its the people of the United States.
The few Republicans still have some sway, but yes, the peoples' voices are doing the most.
I liked when bill Maher got upset because he said Obama's bowing to everything the Republicans say and is abandoning his policies because of their pressure.
Yeah, I'd agree with him there.

I believe that its actually a moral issue. The Washington 'system' is for everyone to get their hands dirty.
Then, whatever happens later, its no ones fault, it was bipartisan, everyone was involved, etc.
If you think about it, if a group decided that they were going to rob a bank, then EVERYONE must agree.
Otherwise there is always the chance that the dissenter would turn them in or otherwise blow the whistle.
When Obama was innaugurated there was a groundswell of hope for some positive change.
Then they quickly jammed the Stimulus Bill through with many not even reading it.
The public knew more about its scurrilous contents than Congress did.
This was followed by the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act to provide funding for the remainder of 2009.
Once again the people were betrayed by the number of earmarks including one of his own, that Obama allowed.
Now the American people are starting to believe they've been had - that this admininistration was no different.
They attempted to push the Cap & Trade energy bill thru and the people objected to the taxes.
Suddenly things aren't rolling along so easily - some congressmen are thinking that they don't want to get 'dirty.'
The alternative media are on the job and the public is being informed - and most don't like the news.
What's stopping the legislative efforts right now is Obama's "All In" bluff.
Instead of FIXING the problems in the bill(s), he is going all out to SELL the program.
If there was any real reform, anything that directly addressed health care costs, the public might be convinced.
But instead of doing that, he is telling the people that if they oppose it, they are too dumb to appreciate its wonderfulness.
Bad Tactic!

???
Republicans aren't "ruling" anything.
They're an ineffectual minority, with neither ideas nor proposals.
They're carping and complaining and making noise, and hoping that the President or the Democrats will screw up.
And when something like the minor ACORN dustup falls into their laps, they jump up to claim credit.
Their poll numbers are as dismal as they were last Spring.
Majorities continue to say that they're obstructing for the sake of obstructing.
If national elections were held today, they'd be slaughtered.

.
They are, actually.
That's what was so funny about Maher getting ticked off at Obama. Obama gets pressure on what he's trying to do and often and ultimately, gives in.
Why?
Why do that when you have the majority that Dems have in Congress right now? That's what Maher was ticked about. And he's right...Obama gives in. So obviously Republicans have some rule because th pressure is working.

Because in the final analysis on many things he was criticized for... Bush was right.

I think people who gave BHO the benifit of doubt are finally seeing him for who he truley is despite the state controlled press self-censorship, smoke and mirrors.
Obama is a marxist/facist loon.
It is not easy for some people to think of the POTUS in those terms... but the quicker these people wake up to that fact the better.
