A 15-year-old girl who allegedly worships Satan was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of lighting a fire at her Orangevale church. The blaze occurred at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the corner of Hazel and Cherry avenues.
Christian Pebbles of Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said the teen made it clear why she started the blaze, which damaged church pews."She hates the church and she worships the devil," Pebbles said. "That's the reason why."Pebbles said the teen was taken into custody on suspicion of felony arson."Well, you know, kids sometimes don't always like what their parents want them to do," said Annette Hilt, the suspect's mother. "Everybody knows that."There were nearly 50 other church members inside when the blaze took place."The flames were about 4 feet high inside the chapel," church facilities director Pat Elmer said.Fire officials said the goal is to make sure that the girl receives counseling, not to necessarily punish her.
Seriously, what the heck is wrong with people?

There's a lot wrong with a lot of people, unfortunately.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if she worships Satan, then the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the corner of Hazel and Cherry avenues is most likely not her church.
I also find it ironically amusing that the fire district rep is name "Christian" in a story about a devil worshiper

I would be interested if she acted alone or were there others pressuring her to do this.

Blaming a severe mental disorder or abhorrent sociopathic behavior on "demonic powers" is a long tradition for our human race.
How do you worship Satan anyway? I'm sure there is a lot of Judas Priest involved

In a fashion similar to worshipping God, pledging devotion, etc using Satanic philosophies as your guidepost instead of Biblical teachings. If Christ taught altruisim, Satanic principles would be self centerdness and selfishness. If it feels good do it, regardless of who it hurts. If it is in your best interest, do it regardless of the consequences of others, etc.

When working with young people, keep an eye on those who feel out of place in prayer and worship. They often start feeling that they don’t get what seems to come so easily to others. If they start feeling they do not belong to the Lord, then they look around for who they must belong to—and there at the ready is Satan (extreme cases). Many teenagers who start feeling they are outsiders in the Church in which they grew up will study Wiccan beliefs before they will study satanic ways. Unfortunately, I know too many parents who dismiss what their teen is going through as a normal, even cute stage. Also keep in mind there are teens who work hard at being as different from everyone else as they can be.
The only time I’ve seen even a flicker of hope on church-alienated teen faces is to go where they are—i.e. to that place where they truly believe they are so different from everyone else. They need to know they are not abandoned, to understand God chooses some to stand apart from all the rest. What they often need is not a side course in Wiccan or Satan, but a more challenging study of their own religion.

This is my neck of the woods, Joel. It's not a freaky place at all. What meaning do you see in it?

As I understand it, Satanism is still a very isolated practice and not institutionalized in any way.

Not necessarily. It wasn't so very long ago (okay, a few centuries, but you get my drift) people were encouraged to watch for signs.

Not necessarily. It wasn't so very long ago (okay, a few centuries, but you get my drift) people were encouraged to watch for signs. If Nobody sees the Big easy names, It would be silly to show what Hazel has come to do.
They don't see the two big storms going on on the Two biggest planets and they didn't see the Ring Dissapear at it's Equinoix.
Levy Shoemaker means nothing and the 40 year anniverary and the other comet that hit the Kingship planet on this anniversary, The 400th year of Galileo and also the 40th anniversary of Apollo.
The Narrows of the Liberty and the waters of the Hudson with its Miracle of people standing on wings in the water, or 7 months anniversary to the names of the 3 fathers and the 3 sons who died after Liberty.
The Twin Towers it's called but this is Bolgna and the city of Emilia who Mirrors another city of Two Towers.
The 3 double nickels and the Party of Ten.
The Angel's Forest, The Fire and the Rain.
I guess people would say that I read too much into everything, even the smell of dead rotting crickets.
I never knew you could smell a dead cricket but they smell worse than a rotting dog.
But like I said, It is Silly to even mention.
But when you are allready Loony{Me} from Jump street, It doesn't matter what I say.

Please tell me that there is more to the mother's reaction than this: "Well, you know, kids sometimes don't always like what their parents want them to do," said Annette Hilt, the suspect's mother. "Everybody knows that."
And why just "felony arson"? There were 50 people in the church. Shouldn't she be charged with attempted murder as well?
I hope this girl gets alot of help. She is obviously very troubled, if not mentally ill.

Yeah I thought the same thing about the mother's reaction. It could be a case of a long history of problems though with this youth. Sad situation no doubt.

If I were a betting man...her father has been out of the picture for some time. This doesn't excuse but it helps create an atmosphere for this kind of behavior.

The irony is that while there are many in America who feel the LDS church is a "C" word, you'd think this young satan worshiping teen would feel right at home within the walls of a Mormon chapel, rather than "hating the church" -- go figure.

Well then, many in America need to better educate themselves about the LDS faith.
This teen could have been a member of any faith. Some teens begin feeling that God is about as real as Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. This is also during a stage of their life that if they don't feel they are, or can be, a part of one group, they'll see if they can become a part of an opposite group.
Having friends in the LDS faith who work with young women's groups, I would venture to say that this teen is in very good hands--should she choose to remain in the LDS faith. While the fire was not a good thing, there is that possibility it could be a turning point for her.
I hope she remains in our prayers for a time.

See the rules of respect sticky at the top of the RF thread, for the C-word (if you don't know what it refers to).

I've only read some of their stuff briefly, and while it is not for me, it is not quite the same "theistic" Satanism that I'd imagine many people believe it to be.
It is atheistic but with rituals to satisfy human desires for ritualistic actions. LaVey just really wanted to upset people by calling it "Satanism," but also because it is (according to his own opinion) anti-Christian.
The actual theistic Satanism (where people literally study Demonology like in the 16th-18th centuries) is FAR less prevalent.
