Here's what Jesus commanded us to do in the New Testament.

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." --- Matthew 22:37-40

I want to know if it is a sin to hate cats? I have no trouble loving dogs, but loving cats must be an agape sort of thing.

There is a big difference between "not loving" cats and "hating" cats. Look deep into your heart. Is it really hate? or just a lack of love?

Nevermind what I said in my last post about your cat. I think I could learn to hate it too. When I call my dog, he comes running ready to obey me. When I call the cat, he totally ignores me, except when he looks at me with that dumb look that says, "You idiot, what do you want?" So when he whines and begs to be fed, I sometimes return the favor. I give him that same dumb look, and then I ignore him.

This is a cat I use to own.

Would it be a sin to hate this cat?

Or just feel sorry for it.

A face only a mother could love.

Kill a Kitten, by Stephen Lynch.
when the game of life makes you feel like quiting it helps a lot if you,
kill a kitten
mark my words cause from were im sitting you cant go wrong if you,
kill a kitten
theres no crime that you'll be commiting, i know the law you can,
kill a kitten
and if you need yarn for that scarf you're knitting you'll get pleanty if you,
kill a kitten

feed it turpin-tine
or break its spine,
crush it with your shoe
as long as you
kill a kitten

if the one you love isn't quite as sh-mitting, she'll like you more if you
kill a kitten
and i quote the bible cause that's where it's written "if ye loveth jesus ye must
kill a kitten"

flush him down the can,
hit him with your van,
throw him at a train,
make him snort cocaine,
drown him in a lake,
bake a kitty cake,
sick some TNT,
up his cat booty,
do what you must do,
as long as you
kill a kitten

killing kittens isnt easy
if the thought makes you feel quzzy
grab a pitch fork from the shed
and kill a puppy dog instead

kill a kitten
kill a kitten
kill a kitten
fluffy kitten
you gotta kill a kitten
kill a kitten

I believe that people here are confusing their feelings about cats with love.

Any here that would see a cat in pain or in danger and not take some appropriate action to alleviate it...yup, that would be a sin, IMO.

Love is a decision borne out in action. Not a feeling.

Works with cats just the way it works with people.

did a cat buy the house next door?

 whoa, you live by a Cat House?? geesh...there goes the neighborhood.

It says we're to subdue the earth and have dominion over the animals. It doesn't say anywhere we have to like them, love them or tolerate some.

remember the saying "Dogs have owners, Cats have staff".

To quote the fair and honorable Vir, "Cats suck".

I personally don't think they suck, but given my choice (which i wasn't....the cat adopted US), i'd take a dog any time.

I have been praying lately not to hate crickets.

Seriously, I am starting to feel guilty because I hate them, I got past my feline hate a long time ago and I love them now because it is a sin to hate them.

I'm seriously trying not to hate crickets now, If Crickets ever had a prophecy of an anti-christ of the Apocolypse that kills all Crickets, that would be me.

When they see me they know it's the end of the world but I have been feeling guilty because I mock them when I kill them.

I'm going to start apologizing to them while killing them now, But kill them I will.

Some men have killed their tens of thousands but I have killed my millions.

You can, on account of your love for you neighbor who has cats (who poop in your flower bed and who eat the sparrows you love to watch) refrain from shooting her cats just as she can, for the same cause, refrain from poisoning your dogs when they dig up her azaleas. :)

Mine follow me around from room to room, sleep cuddled around me, and mew like small kittens when I pick them up.

They also (literally) nip the back of my ankles when their food dish is empty though. Not really biting but just touching the tips of their fangs to my skin... very effective!

Sounds like my cat. He usually either bites my feet or paws at my face in the morning to get me up so that I'll feed him.

So we would agree with our cats: it isn't a sin to hate cats (cause they certainly don't like strange cats) but it is a sin not to feed the cat.

About the Sketch:

This sketch not only appeared in the Flying Circus TV Show - Episode 27 (http://www.orangecow.org/pythonet/sketches/three.htm#27). It was also preformed on their album 'Monty Python's Previous Record' under the title of 'Putting Budgies Down'.

The cast:

MRS. CONCLUSION Graham Chapman MRS. PREMISE John Cleese

The sketch:

Mrs. Conclusion : Hullo, Mrs. Premise. Mrs. Premise : Hullo, Mrs. Conclusion.

Conclusion: Busy Day?
Premise: Busy? I just spent four hours burying the cat.

Conclusion: *Four hours* to bury a cat?
Premise: Yes - it wouldn't keep still.

Conclusion: Oh - it wasn't dead, then?
Premise: No, no - but it's not at all well, so as we were going to be on the safe side.

Conclusion: Quite right - you don't want to come back from Sorrento to a dead cat. It'd be so anticlimactic. Yes, kill it now, that's what I say. We're going to have to have our budgie put down.
Premise: Really - is it very old?

Conclusion: No, we just don't like it. We're going to take it to the vet tomorrow.
Premise: Tell me, how do they put budgies down, then?

Conclusion: Well, it's funny you should ask that, because I've just been reading a great big book about how to put your budgie down, and apparently you can either hit them with the book, or you can shoot them just there, just above the beak.
Premise: Just there? Well, well, well. 'Course, Mrs Essence flushed hers down the loo.

Conclusion: No, you shouldn't do that - no, that's dangerous. They *breed* in the *sewers*!

Matthew 15:
22: And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23: But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24: But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25: Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26: But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27: And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28: Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Jesus has a tendency to make exceptions for those who have faith no matter what their background or pedigree is.

Hate, the sentiment is a sin. The object of your hate is irrelevant. It is the emotion that is corrupting, not the object of the hatred.

There's actually a translation error in the King James Bible that renders the representative of satan in the garden as "serpent". If you put the original Hebrew word in its historical reference, it translates to "cat".

Cats still gots legs and don't crawl on their belly though.

I mean, unless in heat, but many animals behave that way.... Also, it looses something to say in Revelation that the great dragon, that puddy tat of old, ... ;)
