View Full Version : The Broncos got lucky

I'm not making excuses, but that ending was a fluke. Brandon Stokely was just in the right place at the right time. 99.9 percent of the time, that kind of play doesn't go for a touchdown. Especially one that long.
Both offenses were lackluster for a lot of the game; you can pin this loss on our offense and the special teams — not the defense, which was outstanding. They played their asses off. It absolutely sucked that our offense, which has so many weapons, got worse the closer they got to the endzone.
Marvin Lewis should go on a Jim Mora-esque rant. He won't.
Okay. It's over. Can't do anything about it now. We've got the Packers next week and there's lots of games left.

I just hope Bronco fans noticed that Orton threw into triple coverage....
Gonna be a long season.

Call it a fluke, a fluke, or a fluke, but in the age of Orton, we'll take it any way we can get it.
The QB has a real problem going to Marshall in double/triple coverage.
Cincy had all the chances in the world to put this game away.

You're op says you're not making excuses, yet your thread title says they got lucky.
There was no luck, there was a tip and great observation/play which led to a great run back for a touchdown and running time out all in one play, which was not luck but another great observation to run time down before entering the endzone.
If that ball wasnt tipped more than likely it would of been a incomplete pass and your team would of won.
Its not luck.

Leon Hall was doing his job. I don't know what else to call it but bad fortune for us. Credit Stokely for keeping his eye on the ball. But the fact is that the offense sucked today. The closer they got to the endzone the worse they got. Laveranues Coles couldn't catch a cold and Chris Henry had how many catches — one or two?
However, the defense was great as far as I'm concerned. That was the biggest concern, but they played hard.

The whole thing made me sick.
I couldn't even speak to my kids for about 30 minutes after watching it. Are we jinxed, or what?

Were you that lone dude in the stands still there after 30 minutes maybe waiting to see if it would be replayed and reveresed?

Every time I feel bad that my team is the Bills, something in Cinci, Detroit or Oakland makes me feel a little better.

I didnt catch the game, but saw it on the highlights later! What a shame, but Brandon Stokley FTW! i miss that guy, its true though that it seems that cincy had all the chances in the world to win, and when you dont comethrough goofy **** like this happens. Lucky yes, but avoidable also yes IMO.

Lucky or not ( and I say yes), it's over and done with. Maybe you can look forward to something happening for you next time...

It was lucky but not uncommon for a tipped ball to be caught. Usually happens and a defender happens to be there to catch it, which would have sealed the win for cincy, but jsut happened to be stokely and went the broncos way! Thats football at its best, and one of the reasons we say "Any Given Sunday"

Thus why you must play all 60 minutes of the game.

There is no such thing as luck. There is only adequate or inadequate preparation to cope with a statistical universe.

Stokley was where he was supposed to be. It wasn't luck. It was him taking advantage of someone else's mistake. Knock it down and there is no chance for that to happen.
Besides the game was decided on more than one play. The Bengals had plenty of opportunities and just couldn't put it away. It's not luck, and football games aren't about one play.

No, but there are a number of Browns fans in Cleveland who are still waiting for "the drive" to be overturned.

One in the win column for Denver!!
One in the loose column for crybaby Cutler the whiner.
Not a bad day at all.

Yes. I even said as much. It's the first game of the season and it wasn't a conference game. So everything will be alright I think.
The offense was, for lack of a better word, offensive for most of the game. I'm already fed up with Laveranues Coles; he's no T.J. Houshmandzadeh, that's for certain. I hope they get angry at themselves and come out playing with a purpose up in Green Bay. Chris Henry should move up on the depth chart. Just throw high to him. He's 6-4 for crying out loud. The Packers have relatively tall corners, but Slim is seven or eight years younger.
The defense was great. I won't pin the loss on them at all.
Special teams? I hope nothing is seriously wrong with Brad St. Louis.
