no one should die from appropriately expressing their opinion.

I live 10 minutes East of Owosso. Have you read the comments on that story? And how about the article of the Flint Journal posting the guys misdemeanor history. The Journal is full of left wing nutjobs.

The shooter also killed a guy he owed money to. Not sure if this is related to his anti-abortion stand or not. The shooter had a list of people he wanted to kill when the police arrested him.

True. But as of yet we don't know that it was the case in this incident.

"The shooter had a list of people he wanted to kill..."
His defense could, now days, be that he was just performing retroactive abortions...:D

It was because the man's protests were at schools and involved shoving pictures of dead fetus in the students faces.

Highly doubt that...

Standing right in from of the school waving them around is more than a little over the top.
Not to mention other activities he has been in court over

Now I can agree with that statement, but "shoving" didnt sit solidly with me.

Granted, I dont agree with standing in front of a school and protesting anything. But kids are being taught in school that there isnt a baby until it is born and dehumanizing the whole process. Schools are not neutral in a lot of these issues, teachers teach from their belief structure no matter where they stand.

I don't think anyone should do, period, from expressing their views. If you don't like what someone has to say, why listen?

that itself is a problem, we need teachers to teach the class, not their politics. Having people outside in a sad atempt to counter-indoctrinate doesn't help, especially if they are simply asuming the teachers veiw are being forced on students without knowlege of the veiws.

Yup; and we as parents NEED to be involved. I know several teachers, and even some that teach my kid; some of which we have had heated words. But there is no way I would protest in or around the school, I believe that kind of thing needs to be in front of the political offices.

Of course I do allow my kids to choose what they stand for and in a conservative way (not the political stance, the carefully chosen stance) express those views at school. Using the topic at hand, I would allow a t-shirt with "I'm anti-abortion" written on it, but not one that says "abortion is murder" and let the chips fall where they may. (just an example, none of my children actually have any protest t-shirts.)

Although my daughter was told to cover up her "I Love Weed California" tee-shirt. Gotta pick your battles.
