Good. I've always said, there is no reason why a criminal should not get the death penalty, Just because they luck out on timing, and manage to get away.

If someone was robbing your house, and you didn't get the chance to kill them, then by all means, the risk for such a crime should still be there in court.

thats strange, when i worked there we were told under no certain terms should we approach anyone we thought fo stealing. we had to report it to manager or the theft/security guard but we could not say or try to stop the suspected person ourself because that was ground to being fired.

wall mart in china must have different trainign videos =P

You do realize that was an incident that happened in China, in no way does it reflect Wal Mart policy here in America in dealing with shoplifting scum, and it is without a doubt on my part not Wal Mart's policy for dealing with shoplifters in China.

My sentiments too, I detest a thief , at least do like they do in SA and cut their hand off, with NO govt. welfare EVER!

At least she won't steal again.

The article states they don't even know if she stole something. They probably had some other beef with her. I'm pretty sure that even in China most normal ppl don't follow a woman home and beat them to death, even if they DID steal.

That's why Walmarts here in America hire octogenarians to provide security at the door. So they aren't tempted to follow shoplifters home and beat the hell out of them.

So someone is ACCUSED of stealing from a WalMart and you're happy she's dead at the hands of 5 employees.

What the **** is the matter with you?

It's China. You stop in the little yellow square in the airport that says Do Not Stop you get two guys with guns making sure you move. Ask me how I know. They don't screw around over there. :)

From the OP article:

"They started to hit her because she didn't do what they said," the paper quoted her husband Chen Baolin as saying.

Police said the five Wal-Mart employees had stopped the woman in the street and demanded to see her receipt, but she refused because she could not verify their identities, it said.

I've yet to see where it stated she actually took anything without paying for it from the store. Looks like she's paid the ultimate price for something as stupid as not giving others the immediate satisfaction what they demand when they demand it. I mean damn...five guys on one woman...real freaking hero's huh?

Where's all the outrage over the Chinese govt imprisoning, torturing, even killing people who dare to pass around a book?

One incident that happens to involve Wal Mart employees, and it hits the fan....

I doubt they are walking down the streets too though.

It's a different culture over there. At times I don't even begin to try to understand it.

Pointing out a moronic OP.

Nothing to see here.

No they were two very stout fellows in Police uniforms with very large and stout sidearms walking up an down in front of the terminal hastening people along their way, who like me, were illegally dropping travelers at the curb.

That sounds like the area around Harvard Square when I lived in Massachusetts...

The original OP didn't say she was accused, but that she had stolen. I didn't follow the link.

So let me rephrase, If she had been a thief, I have no problem with her being killed. And there is nothing the **** the matter with me.

Well, I'm sorry because it wasn't. Maybe I'm cold blooded because I've been burgularized, shot at for no reason other than some scum wanting MY stuff and trespassed on numerous times but I have no use for thieves, the only thing keeping a bullet out of their forehead as for as I'm concerned is prison for me although if something awful happens to them, I could care less.

Yes, there is something the **** the matter with you. I'm quite certain of it. By your standards, anyone who ever stole anything should be beaten to death. This would involve kids taking candy, poor people taking food, and drunk college kids taking pitchers of beer.

Downloaded music or movies illegally? Stephen thinks some employee from Virgin Records should knock down your door and beat you to death!

Taken a bite of your salad at the grocery store before you weighed it? He hopes the cashier kills your terrible ass!

Yeah - you're normal. Nothing wrong with you at all. Keep thinking that beating someone to death for stealing is the beacon of morality.

Oh - and you didn't follow the link before saying it's a good thing the person was beaten to death? Like the people who beat her to death didn't actually prove that she took anything? That's great.

They could use this for an ad campaign.

Wal*Mart. You Can't Beat The Employees, but They Can Beat You.

Rollback Pricing: Starts With You Getting Rolled.

Wouldn't Be Caught Dead Shopping At Wal*Mart? We Can Arrange That!

First thank you for your permission.

Second, are kids prosecutable with the death penalty? No ok there goes your candy argument.

are you there when they steal movies, or in the act of a crime? If no, then your point is moot.

Third point, IF they are caught stealing, in a store, then yep, Kill there ass As you like to put it.

Oh - and you didn't follow the link before saying it's a good thing the person was beaten to death? Like the people who beat her to death didn't actually prove that she took anything? That's great.

I already said I hadn't looked at the link. Do you have reading problems? Is that what the **** is the matter with you?

Why thank you for ending with that's great. I have zero tolerance for criminals.

Once again, there is nothing the **** wrong with me. You may not like my opinion on the matter, but at least I didn't suggest killing say, Forum posters who like to single one out for having a different opinion. Now that would be wrong, But go ahead, and keep trying your thought police tactics, and see how far that gets you.

I am done talking to you now.

china, a communist country admired by liberals here routinely murdered millions of its citizens as normal policy. why get all worked up about this? wal mart had nothing to do with it.

Boy, prices in a Wal Mart in China must be really low since everything they sell is made in China. I wonder if all the cashiers are white?

I remember when I was younger, I would shop at the local Piggly Wiggly. As I left for home, a shoplifter was stealing too many groceries, and I allowed him to sit in my car, and we drove to pass the thug on foot. The grocer caught the thug after we set out on him.

In Avondale, Arizona (about 15 miles east of Phoenix) shoplifters are made famous.

http://www.azcentral.com/community/swvalley/articles/2008/04/08/20080408mugshots0408.html

People arrested for shoplifting get their mugshots enshrined on the city website.

Wanna see some shoplifters?

http://www.ci.avondale.az.us/index.aspx?NID=993

Seems like about half the shoplifters go to Walmart. That's like shoplifting from the Dollar Store (there's actually one of those in the lineup too!), I mean seriously, if I'm going to jail it's not going to be for anything you can find in a crummy Wal*Mart.

For petty thieving, that right there is about an overachiever who takes his job title seriously!

What I don't get is the ACLU arguing that these shoplifters shouldn't have their pictures taken. They must have never seen the inside of a Wal*Mart? They've only got a jillion cameras around the joint. You go into a Wal*Mart and your picture is going to be taken from every conceivable angle. They've got enough footage on you to make a nature film on your life as a Wal*Mart shopper.

The picture on the web page isn't the picture the shoplifter should be worried about. It's the video footage the jury is going to see that are going to be the pictures that do the damage.

I did a search on Wal*Mart shoplifter killed hoping to find a followup and holy smokes, they're dropping like flies!

http://www.nbcactionnews.com/news/local/story/Wal-Mart-Shoplifter-Dies-After-Confrontation/r12NR6eJhEimh02mZaplPA.cspx

February 2003, a Kansas City, Missouri man died after being confronted by security for shoplifting.

http://zonaeuropa.com/20090907_1.htm

August 2005, Houston TX, another shoplifter was thrown to the ground and held. He died of cardiac arrest.

December, 2008, Myrtle Beach, SC. A South Carolina man, caught stealing $393 in merchandise died after a struggle with three Wal-Mart employees.

Now this one in China too?

Wal-Mart is stricter than the Taliban! All we need to do is send some burly Wal-Mart workers to Afghanistan and they'll have that war zone wrapped up in a couple of minutes with a deadly Wal-Mart parking lot!

So Wal-Mart is coming out of the closet as a hard core Muslim owned company ? How about parking lot executions and dismemberments ?
I had the top manager of a ?Wal-Mart accuse me of being a thief at the cash registers one day. I reminded him that falsely accusing some one publiclly was not without its hazards and i could call Arkansas and get it settle and if i didn't get satisfaction there we could discuss the matter before a judge. Last time he ever had occasion to talk (couple of years ago.)
