Slasher films suck.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose was the last movie that genuine inspired a feeling of dread in me.

So, I guess my answer is, the Devil inhabiting the body of a young girl.

I would have picked Hannibal Lecter, but they totally ruined him with Hannibal and Hannibal Rising. The books and the even worse movies.

Got my vote too...Doctor Hannibal Lector...as he was in Silence of the Lambs...creep city but with manners and class....spppoookky!

Devil come in close second...as in the Exorcist (couldn't sleep for a week!) and The exorsism of Emily Rose...(bothered me for a few nights) both waaaay deep in creep factor..and not a damn thing you can do about it. So yea....the Devil merits a close second to Hannibal.

I love this question. My favorite is Jason Voorhees but Michael Myers runs very close, and sometimes they're tied. I love horror movies, I'm a screamer so I think I'm fun to go to horror movies with. Halloween is always a big deal at my house, we do a dummy that looks like Jason. 1 year I was doing the dishes and looked out of the kitchen window and my husband was standing there with the Jason mask on and the machete. OMG! did I ever scream!

I got to meet the best Jason ever, Kane Hodder at an autograph show a couple of years ago, he was a really nice guy. Out of all the celebrities who were there, I was most excited to meet Jason. I also met Lar Park Lincoln at the same show, she was the girl with the kinetic powers in Friday the 13th part 7, she was so nice, and btw that was also Kane Hodder's 1st appearance as Jason.

For anyone who lives in NJ or the NY tri-state are, Chiller Theater puts on 2 shows a year in Parsippany NJ, the shows coming up are Oct.30-Nov.1, Kane's not on the list yet but he usually comes to the show, here's the line-up so far, check the site often because the guest list is constantly updated:

Now that I think more about it, Death in the 'Final Destination' series has a flair the others don't have. Obviously a big fan of Rube Goldberg, but with a strong sense of humor. And doesn't have all the psychological hangups like Jason and Michael. (Boo hoo, your mother made you do it.)

Mrs. Voorhees was whacked in the head, but Mrs. Myers seemed pretty normal in the John Carpenter version of Halloween from what we saw, it was Rob Zombie who made her psycho.

I can't get into Freddy Kruger, and I was a little annoyed they made Jason a dumb wimp in the Freddy vs Jason movie. The Director and Producers were definitely pro-Freddy in that movie.

While most I've talked to think it was over the top, Seed of Chucky is my favorite. The part where he was in the bathroom trying to obtain a 'sample', and she helped him out by flashing him, was classic.

Yeah, I was referring to the Zombie version of Michael.

And even Zombie made her fairly normal - she was only a psycho in his mind.

I consider myself a horror movie purist and I got kind of ticked off at Rob Zombies 1st Halloween movie. I haven't seen the new 1 yet, I keep debating about seeing it because I loved the John Carpenter versions.

I found the 2nd Zombie weird in that it didn't follow in the direction his first one started on. His first one tried to show Michael as 'real', and attempted to answer the questions of how he had turned into the killer he became. The second one (without giving too much away) raised more questions than it answered.

I liked Zombie's first, not so much his second (neither as much as the original).

Although it was made long before I was born, nobody ever surpassed Lugosi's Dracula. That's a special accomplishment since it was made right at the beginning of talking movies, so they were probably still trying to decide how to work that in.

I always like Freddy Kruger. But my opinion is somewhat biased...

My dad had recorded Nightmare On Elm Street part 3 and there were certain nude scenes... I was young. You do the math.

You gotta admit, without the T&A slasher flicks just wouldn't be as good.

One thing I never got with the fear of sharks that Jaws created (and the book was just about as huge as the movie), is that if you're afraid of sharks, just stay out of the damn ocean.

If you're sitting in your house in Kansas, and you're afraid a shark might get you, you have larger problems than a fear of sharks.

Big fan here of Jason X. I know some of the Friday fans hate it, but I found it fun. The 'virtual Crystal Lake' was a howl.

Virtual girls talking to Jason:

"Hey, do you want a beer?"
"Or do you wanna smoke some pot?"
"Or we can have premarital sex?"
[takes off top] "We love premarital sex!"

Then Jason puts one in a sleeping bag and beats the other with her.

That was so :))

I told Kane when I met him that I thought Jason X was the best Friday the 13th film. I know some people hated it, but I loved it.

Did you see the most recent Friday the 13th? Derek Mears is the new Jason, I thought he did a really good job, he moved so darn fast though as if he was on speed. If you saw it I'm just wondering, and I can't figure it out, why didn't he kill the girl he held captive all that time? was it because she was wearing that locket that had a picture of Mrs. Voorhees? or is it because he thought the girl looked like his Mother?
