today on FOX there was a story about a vet who started an organization of other vets and they go around to make sure that taps gets played live at every military funeral.
I'm googling around but I can't find the address for the site where you can donate.

They said the founder makes up the difference himelf in the costs if he falls short.
I'm sitting here with tears steaming just thinking about the selflessness of this man and I want to help.

I sent you an e-mail concerning a hero's funeral. I hope you get it and can appreciate it.

A few months ago my uncle passed away. He served in WW11 and was 92 years old. The Army sent two Soldiers out, who draped a flag and did the usual respectful marching during the bringing of the casket to the grave. There wasn't any taps or anything else.

When I came home from Vietnam and was TAD waiting to be discharged, I was sent to the funeral of a soldier KIA, at the same cemetery. There was a big difference tho. There was six of us "honor guard" who were there and taps was played. I was very proud to be there that day. I also became "honor guard" with my police department for years.

Anyway, with my uncle, the Army said they didn't do the taps or the "gun salute" any more, but would send two soldiers to do the flag. SAD!

Im sorry to hear of the passing of your Uncle. I dont understand why Taps isnt played. According to the military WW2 vets should be eligible.

Thanks. I don't know why either. However, his brother is a retired police officer in the city and his son retired a few years ago from the FBI. He received one heck of a send off from the cops at least. Not even one car moved while we were going to the cemetery.
