On Tuesday, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg sentenced Brown to five years' probation and ordered him to do 180 days of community labor -- to be directly supervised by the police chief in Richmond, Va. -- as agreed to in his plea deal in June, when he pleaded guilty to felony assault.

A second felony charge, making criminal threats, was dropped at the time of Brown's plea. Schnegg repeatedly made it clear at Tuesday's hearing that she wanted Brown to perform physical labor, rather than community service, in Virginia, where his family lives and he has a permanent home. She said she had received a letter from Richmond Police Chief Bryan Norwood indicating that the singer would be removing graffiti, picking up trash, washing cars or maintaining grounds.I'm actually behind this sentence because has Brown been sentenced to LA County jail he would have received the "You're outa here" treatment due to overcrowding.

That being said Brown is a typical jerk thug "I'm better than woman" jerk. Not only did he have a history of violence towards his ex, his only expressions of remouse for the current incident in which he rendered her a bloody mess were surely written by his publicist or his attorney.

I'm sure the press will have a field day taking pics of Brown doing his community labor and I surely hope the work is HARD and the days are LONG! And good luck to him because people with his attitude, like OJ, are prone to future acts of violence against others.

I agree, I think we should let Jay Z and his thugs handle Chris Brown. Roughly.

What is this Chris Brown famous for again?

And how can a California Judge order Virginia sentences?

What is this Chris Brown famous for again?

And how can a California Judge order Virginia sentences? It was a negotiated disposition and it was a California, not a Virginia sentence.

Apparently he is a Virginia resident. The sentence was not unusual. I have clients sentenced to perform out of county and out of state community service all the time.
