I saw this on a flight sim site I frequent, and thought I'd give this story a bit more exposure:
An interesting and touching story:

What is really noble about Chris Freeman is that he refused to sell the helmet:
"One auctioneer told me he could make a call and get me 35,000," Freeman said. When he asked "euros, dollars or pounds," he was told, "take your pick."
Freeman declined. "This is a historical artifact," he said. "It's not for sale."
All I can say is, "Well done Mr. Freeman, well done indeed".
