My brother kept one hidden for some time by wearing t-shirts. Just a fleur-de-lis. As much as I know it was a bad drunken decision, boy it could have been SO much worse.

Please explain.

Mine's very conspicuous and I have plans for two more, one of which won't be conspicuous at all, specially if I keep my hair short.

Why? It has a lot to do with family pride and I love the feel of the needle on my skin. You should see the guy I'm seeing, he's got loads of them... and I love every single one of them.

I have four. One on each shoulder blade and I regret getting both of them. Stupid drunk'n moment when I was 18 and "can do what ever I want".

Now in a different life style then I was in then, I can't wear strapless gowns to the volun-told official AF formals.

I have one on my calf that I will never regret for several reason. Most of all because it was completely home done w/ no tat gun, and it was 2 1/2 days of pure pain! But I did it.

The last is on my ankle and is hubby's name so I don' regret that either. I did that one myself also.

So they are to attract others who also have them, because you like them on others. OK. Can't argue that logic.

You misunderstand me, or I wasn't clear enough. I do it for myself. I girded my loins and went under the needle for the first tat to conquer my fear or needles and to... leave an indelible mark about my family on my body. It's not visible and won't be until I get back into bikini shape. I didn't do it to show it off, I did it for me.

I don't seek out men with tats but I love tats nonetheless.

I can't stand when I just accidentally write on myself.

I actually have nightmares about getting tattooed. The very thought that ink gets injected into my dermis disturbs me.

Many things I don't get: smoking, piercings, drugs

But then there are people who don't get drinking beer and wine, which I would lose my mind without.

 ONLY my ears are pierced...for some reason, the thought of piercings freak the heck outta me. Tattoos? Whole other story!

I smoked a couple of times but never really liked it...oddly enough, I still get cravings. :eh: I don't think I smoke more than 10 cigs over a couple month period.

Don't do drugs...unless you count Aspirin

My fiance loves beer and wine, I could give or take both. Got really drunk a couple of times and haven't really touched alcohol since. Got a physical last year and the Dr. was like "Do you drink?" and I was like "Sometimes." When she asked how often, I just sorta looked at her and she's like "Ok, when was your last drink?". When it took me more than a minute to answer, she's like "Nevermind, you don't drink."

I don't know about 'conspicuous', but I do have tattoos, one that can be seen unless I wear longsleeves, which happens rarely. It is, however, on the inside of my right forearm, and does not really stand out because of that. It is a custom dragon tattoo that is about 27 years old, and still holding up quite well.

I will be getting another one soon, on the inside of my left forearm... like the others that I have (three, total) for personal reasons; powerful, meaningful, yet my own. Tattoos, so permanent, should have meaning, but all too often are just put on for no real reason. Those are the ones that are a shame; sometimes it's really good work...

As to how my tattoos may look in time? No worse than I will; I guess I'm not vain enough to worry about that...

Depends on the chick, the tattoo, and the location.

A girl at work has the treble clef symbol tattooed into her ankle, and it's wicked cool (being a former chorus dork, I appreciate that kind of thing).

I'd also present Abby from NCIS, who has a spiderweb tattooed into her neck (not real, but still awesome).

On the flip side...I had a boss once that had a smiley face tattooed into her upper arm...only she'd let her go so much that the skin sagged and it turned into a frown.

I've seen way too many people use opposite gender avatars (a dude who had the girl from "Fringe" as his, samurai7 uses John Wayne, etc) to make that assumption.

Now...when I made the crack about jell-o wrestling with you two...THAT wasn't a tip-off?

Nope, just a representation of a powerful event in my life that I wanted to physically re-create, to be able to carry the meaning of in my view, be reminded of what it meant, and what it did not.

My other tattoos are my statements of life, at least my life at the time. They are not hidden, but not always immediately visible. I have one on my left shoulder/bicep, and another on my right bicep...

Do you ever find yourself struggling with random dizziness?

Nope! Never random. Those that meet me truly understand I get my way. When they don't understand, well then they suffer from the wrath of Taz'tude.

It's ugly and I would not recommend it. Stuff flying all 'round, nasty noises, and well then there is the slobbering.

Just ugly. Better understood that I get my way. Less suffering for all involved. And, less things to clean up after I got my way anyhow.

I just really hate tatoos...TC has 2......they are fine.....nothing too drastic or anything like that...but he is a guy. I hate tatoos on chicks......

Me too. To me they look kind of gross. No offense to those who have them.

An inconspicuous tattoo - if done right, could be a thrill though.

Green tarantulas on shoulder blades? Yuk.

ThinkingMan
August 28th, 2009, 12:37 am
Depends on the chick, the tattoo, and the location.

A girl at work has the treble clef symbol tattooed into her ankle, and it's wicked cool (being a former chorus dork, I appreciate that kind of thing).

I'd also present Abby from NCIS, who has a spiderweb tattooed into her neck (not real, but still awesome).

On the flip side...I had a boss once that had a smiley face tattooed into her upper arm...only she'd let her go so much that the skin sagged and it turned into a frown.

Funny - turned that smile upside down.

I like the G clef thing too - it denotes a little more than just "look - I got drunk and figured out how to garner slightly more attention"

ThinkingMan
August 28th, 2009, 12:39 am
I never saw the point of it either, but hey...to each their own.

I just remembered I have a crapload of temp tattoos. Fairies and some others are the logo of my work.

Who remembers my threads about sunburns? :P These are some of the snapshots from my documentation. Just had to advertise my place of employment. I think the temp tattoos were meant to boost morale and company pride. Must explain why I blurred it out. :))

WOW! I wanna see more!!!!!!!!

Because they couldn't make it fit on something that's only 12 millimeters long?

And they didn't have the heart to tell me.

I know I can count on you for the truth.

Yes, you can count on me to tell the awful, painful truth. But note that my response was only a guess. Afterall, how would I know of your "qualifications" for that tattoo?

Sorry to hear that.
Must suck to get sunburns, I don't sunburn but sunscreen whoops me pretty bad.
My brother in law sat on a chair with sunscreen on, I forgot and sat in that chair you could see EXACTLY where the chair/sunscreen touched me.
What really sucks is that my wife is fair skinned and has to wear sunscreen, she can't touch me if she has any sunscreen on her. Kinda like my own personal kryptonite.

Try being Scottish AND Irish.

I can't sit under OFFICE lights without applying a 15 SPF.

And the only beer I've tried and like so far has been Yuengling. But seeing as how I drink less than once a month, it's not really an issue lol.

She'd say, "Welcome to the club. What took you so long?"

(I don't usually make "Your momma" jokes on a first date, but you gotta get used to us boys sometime. )
