The controversial director [Oliver Stone] is creating a 10-part documentary series for Showtime titled "Secret History of America."
Narrated by Stone, the series promises to focus on events that "at the time went under-reported, but crucially shaped America's unique and complex history of the last 60 years," according to Showtime.

A more accurate title should be: Re-writing the History of America.

“Through this epic 10-hour series, which I feel is the deepest contribution I could ever make in film to my children and the next generation, I can only hope a change in our thinking will result," Stone said in a statement.

Yep, the “documentary” will no doubt become a part of our school children’s curriculum to insure they be properly educated.

“Those who control the present control the past and, those who control the past control the future.” - George Orwell

Stone is just doing his part to make that ominous statement come true.

I like how you're agreeing with your own posts.

I haven't seen this film, so I can't judge it. But there are elements of American history that have been ignored. Many of them have been very shady and evil. Erasing the bad parts of history is more of a form of control than pointing them out.
If someone sees this movie, perhaps he or she will decide to do more research on some topic in the film, and learn more about history. And I don't see how that's a bad thing.

Not as long as all the ugly is still on the shelf with all the pretty when they look there to learn more.

Then no it isn't a bad thing.

Sadly there will be those who look no further than Stone's interpretation of history.

The harm could come if what is presented is not historically correct or is seriously twisted to give Stone's personal view of things. Many people who see the films will take them as the final word and never research the topics.

One can both tell 'facts' and lie one's ass off at the same time.

The parts you decide to focus on in a documentary, even if they are 'facts', dictate the picture painted.......one can use disjointed facts to paint a huge LIE!

Stone's picture will be a simple one......'America bad......led by evil Military Industrial Complex.......Soviets 'victims'......Japanese 'victims'.........Koreans 'victims'........Vietnamese 'victims'..........all victims of evil white guys in America.

There........I saved folks several hours of movie watching. ;)

I’d like to see Michelle Malkin’s book Culture of Corruption made into a documentary.

I wonder if Oliver Stone would take on something like that. If he wanted to educate children on the real America then he might be interested in exposing Obama as the same ol’ kind of politician he preached needed changing in Washington.

Somehow I don’t think he wants that kind of history taught.

No it wont.

Yeah it will.

Just like al-Gore’s movie from Paramount/Viacom was and, just like CBS/Viacom’s Hitler movie was. Stone’s “documentary” from Showtime/Viacom will be widely seen in American classrooms.

I can see the “documentary” doing very well in countries that don’t like us so much.

So now we're turning to movie makers vis a vie left wing Stone to tell the story of America and her history? Wow...who's vetting this 10 part series btw?

I don't have Showtime..and now I know why I stay away from t.v. in general. Crap like this is as dangerous as Gore's 'An inconvenient truth' (which I've never seen nor care too) or Moores offering in 'Sicko' (which again, won't see and have no need too). Why is it that folks like Stone, Gore or Moore vetted or questioned more thoroughly? Oh..that's right...their not Republicans....silly me.
