I've met several adults who have never been out of this state. Which is surprising to me given Chicago's proximity to Indiana and Wisconsin.

I've been to 22 in 34 years, how bout you?

Yeah, I have visited several universities which have a more conservative student population - the University of Dallas, Christendom, Hillsdale, Thomas Aquinas, etc. There are a number of families that homeschool their kids and some of their kids never leave home until 22 or something (they'll even attend university from college sometimes). So yeah, this is off-topic, but I do think a number of people on the Left and Right have found ways to not-go-anywhere, and even keep people within a small community for very long periods of time.

I wonder what states I haven't visited: I've probably hit about 30. This summer alone I went to Omaha, Houston, Little Rock, Youngstown (Ohio), Sacramento; previous years that I can remember vividly have included trips to Las Vegas, Des Moines, Orlando, Yellowstone, Phoenix, Memphis, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, NYC, DC, and a billion other places. I've lost count.

All of them except Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Hawaii.

But I have been to Puerto Rico. Does that count for 1/2 a state?

Without counting states that I've just driven through and not actually spent time in...

Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Massachussetts, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Ohio. I've also been in airports in Texas and Rhode Island.

So I guess my number is 11.

For the record....I count a state if I have pumped money into their economy.

I haven't been to Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Hampshire, Maine or Rhode Island.

If I had access to my fridge magnet collection, I could tell you for sure.

And my criteria is that I have to have spent the night there for it to count. Being a technical service rep had some advantages. :D

I have been to all 50.

my husband's goal was to get our kids into all fifty states before my daughter graduated from high school, and we did. I'm not talking about just hitting an airport or just barely driving thru ... I mean actually visiting the state. My husband would look up what that state was best known for or what tourist attractions would be interesting. We've been fishing in Alaska and scuba diving in Hawaii. We've been to the Indianapolis 500 and the Kentucky Derby. Some states we've been to more than once; some locations more than once. For instance one trip took us to Los Angeles while a separate trip took us to San Francisco. Been to New York three or four times; love New York City but also had to hit the Baseball Hall of Fame. Been to DC numerous times b/c we just love all the history there........

the hardest state to get to was North Dakota.

I know.... ever since they built that moat around that state, it's been hell for the tourist industry.
