I can't wait to see it...although...I can't quite figure out what kind of movie it is supposed to be. Some of the scenes look like it might be part comedy...but that is so unike QT...I am so confused

It's actually Inglourious Basterds. Somehow or another, both words are misspelled. I'm tempted not to see on principle.

Apparently this is a remake, I too am looking forward to seeing it but I saw it in the DVD section of a local store for £3.99, my nephew and I were quite excited but we knew it was too good to be true....
So we were perusing it, we were studying the back of it, it actually said there was an interview with Quentin Tarantino so we were nearly swayed but then we saw the director of the film was not Tarantino......

Well I suspect that if you did not like "Pulp Fiction" or the two "Kill Bill" movies, it would come as no surprise that you would not like "Dusk til Dawn." But my point was, it contained a lot of humor.
... and the sexiest performance by Selma Hayek ever!

Whoa back up the truck Chachi...where did I ever say I did not like Pulp Fiction or the Kill Bill movies? Okay...I am not the biggest fan of the Kill Bills...I am more of a Reservoir Dogs gal myself...but where did I ever say I did not like them?

Sorry... I mixed GB2004's comment in with yours in my mind.
But how could you be a Tarantino fan not love the "Kill Bills"? They are classic Tarantino. If I am channel surfing and run across either of those films my right thumb freezes and I am unable to change the channel until it is over. "Pulp Fiction" and "Dusk til Dawn" have the same effect and if I ever were to come across "Sin City" (the heavily Tarantino influenced Rodriguez film) that would do it too.
I liked Reservoir Dogs too, but it was too ordinary to captivate me like his later works... up until Hostel that is. That film was just sick.
I have great expectations for "Inglourious Basterds" though.

Something about the Bill movies just did not do it for me.
I like Reservoir Dogs the best because I like ensembles. Plus Mr Blonde and Mr Pink are 2 of my favorite movie characters of all time.
I have actually seen scenes from From Dusk til Dawn and there is nothing about the movie that made me stop and say "I need to check this out". Just because I like QT does not mean I like all of his movies, and FDTD is one that I cannot say I would like.
I don't hate the Kill Bill movies...but I don't like them all that much either. I f I am going to sit down and watch a QT movie, it will either be Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction.

I think Dusk was a collabrative effort between QT and Robert Rodrigues. QT may have just produced it in fact, like Desperado. I really liked DTD. There was action, dark humor and a solid pulp story. It's my favorite movie of what's his nuts, Clooney. There are also product tie -ins with pulp fiction. (red apples & big kahuna burger).
Ing Bas looks like it's going to have some gruesome stuff in it for sure.

Quentin wrote the screenplay; Rodriguez directed it.
Clooney was terrific in DTD... he is a terrific actor. But his best role was in "Brother wherefore art thou." Speaking of which, the Coen brothers are also uniquely good at making movies.

"O Brother Where Art Thou" for $200, Alex ;)
I'm also looking forward to Inglourious Basterds. I think I'm one of the few who actualy dug Grindhouse/Planet Terror, but I haven't seen a whole lot of Tarantino's work (at least not compared to some of y'all...I think my only exposure has been Pulp Fiction, Grindhouse and the two eps of CSI he directed a few years ago), so I might just not know enough to know it wasn't his best stuff.

After weeks of anticipation, I saw Quentin Tarantino's latest film Inglorious Basterds this weekend. I have one word to describe this film: FANTASTIC!!!!
It was typical Tarantino. I loved the bloody scenes where the Basterds killed the Nazis. I also loved the scene where the theater was burnt down. CLASSIC!!!!
I enjoyed Brad Pitt's performance as Lt Aldo Raine as well as Christoph Waltz's performance as Col Hans Landa. In fact, I loved the acting by the whole cast in the film.
I loved the mixture of action, comedy, and drama in the film. This film was just as good as Tarantino's other films like Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2.
I definitely recommend this film to everyone to see. This movie definitely kicked major ASS!!!!!
On the scale of one to ten, I give this film an nine.
ENJOY!!!!!

It was pretty good, though Tarantino's penchant for drowning us in unnecessary dialogue is in full force here.
Scenes that made me laugh my ass off, those who've seen the movie will know what I'm talking about. The pipe and the Italian film critic.:))

Awesome movie, awesome dialogue...I just wish there was more of the basterds (also....anyone know whats up with the spelling of the title).
I want to qualify the above by stating I did not go to the movie expecting an action flick, I'd read reviews stating that it was far more than that. However...chapter 2...hilarious. All of it. Every character was just pitch perfect. Pitt as Raine was sensational and Eli Roth as Donnowitz...when he launched into the baseball announcer speech I nearly died. If only they utilized them more!
Great movie everyone should see it. (The gore isn't that bad!!!)

Saw it last night, rate it 7 out of 10. *semi/very mild spoilers*
T put in his signature interesting dialogue which was cool to see. Opening scene as well as some others throughout the movie had some great tension building incorporated. Still at other points the scenes or parts of it seemed to run a bit longer than they needed to. The movie itself is long as nuts (over 2 hours) but didn't feel like it. I don't think it was as good as pulp fiction as a whole. However, there was some absolutely superb acting by people I had never seen before. Don't know if they are new but they were very good. The farmer in the opening scene and the German officer nicknamed "The Jew Hunter" were excellent. Well, pretty much everyone but they stand out. In retroespect this could have waited for the DVD. I might have rathered seeing District 9 on the big screen. Pitt was good and pretty funny. And it was not as gruesome as I thought it would be though there were a couple of pretty gruesome scenes. The commercials 'promised' more I thought with the way it was portrayed. Some of the musical cues choices didn't make much sense to me either. And I agree with another poster, for a movie about the inglurious basterds there sure weren't very much of them in it.

Just got in from seeing it and, YES, it is now okay to laugh at the Third Reich!
It's a bizarre mix of historical fiction, spaghetti westerns, drama, comedy and blood. Keep your ear tuned to the music and you'll hear bits reminiscent of spaghetti westerns, Kill Bill and Blazing Saddles.
I'll admit I did have to turn my head a few times as it got kinda' bloody up on that big screen but it wasn't overkill [pun intended]. It felt odd laughing at Nazi's but they made the comedy very obvious initially and there was no doubt the comedy was intentional.
It wasn't all giggles and the last 15 minutes was pretty intense. It's a long movie - over 2 hours - so be prepared. When it was over, the audience applauded. That's always a good sign, IMO.

Tarantino's "unnecessary dialogue" is one of the hallmarks that make his movies so great. It puts the movie in to the realm of surrealism so that you know what you see is not to be taken as reality no matter how graphic it is. It is the "unnecessary dialogue" that captures me every time I stumble across "Pulp Fiction" or "Kill Bill (1&2)" when channel surfing.

There's already a movie from the '70's called "Inglorious Bastards". This is covering similar subject matter (the other movie was about Italians wiping out Nazis), but it's so far over the top that Tarantino didn't want it getting confused with the original.

I really liked how suspenseful the movie was. The violence was quick and brutal and not ever-present, but there was constant build-up. I was always wondering what next and when. Definitely not a movie you want to drink too much soda in, if you get up to pee you'll miss something.
The opening scene was great, Hans Landa was an amazing character. He played the Nazi so well, you could actually feel a fear of him in every scene.
I like that it didn't revolve around the Basterds just killing people (but really, how hilarious was the Bear Jew?). As usual with QT, there were several sub-plots running to a single conclusion, and a couple of twists you wouldn't expect.
Great movie, but don't go see it thinking it's all action. It's heavy on suspense, sub-plot, and of course, dialogue.

I saw it this weekend and thought it was just ok.
Throughout the movie it seemed like Tarantino was lost without his pop references. The movie also lacked a strong character to balance with the SS Col, Landa. The final meeting between Pitt's Aldo Raine and Landa was rather anticlimactic for me. Part of the problem may have been that the Basterds could easily have been excised from the film without losing much. Maybe a simple revenge story- which Tarantino does well- with Shoshanna and Landa would have been better? Who knows.
I did think that Waltz's performance as Col. Landa was brilliant, and his opening sequence was the best of the movie. Unfortunately, it was somewhat downhill from there.

You're right that the Basterds could have been removed entirely. I think they were the comic relief of the film, though. It seems to be poking fun at the macho 'Dirty Dozen' model. Yeah, they're tough and scary and they kill Nazis, but really they're just a bunch of angry Jews led by a hick from Tennessee. When Raine and Landa meet, it's no contest- Landa is a master linguist and knows right away that Raine and his guys aren't Italian. That scene cracked me up. And yet, for all Landa's advantage with language, interrogation, what have you, in the 'alternate history', he has to use Raine to ensure his own survival.
It's definitely one I will go see again just to nail it down.
I think the only complaint I had was the David Bowie song towards the end, it took me out of the time period a bit.
