Went and saw it last night and the theater was packed. It was for surly a different kind of movie. Lots of gore. Almost a Cloverfield type movie but not quite. Had simularities of our past of racism and segregation but this time it's coming from African nations and war lords. Some parts were quite disturbing and sad.
I give it an 8 out of 10

engaging, appealing and endearing. its ET with an edge.
as the movie went along, you start feeling empathy for the protagonists, especially Christopher and his son.
love it.

Just saw it.
I'd have to say that it blows 90% of scifi out of the water and rivals some of the pinacles of the genre such as Blad Runner and Alien.
On the surface it's a great action scifi with a good story. It's underlying themes are so complex that one could probably use it for a dissertation.
Highly recommend it.

Excellent, it was excellent.
It was a big budget movie with an art house feel.

Loved it. Went in knowing nothing about it, other than a spaceship was hovering over a city, as in Independence Day, and the story went in a direction I didn't expect. The lead actor gave a great performance, even more so considering it was his first acting role.
I've heard that the director is interested in making a sequel. Which would make sense considering how it ended.

I’m hearing some good buzz about the movie and hope to see it soon.
I also heard that it was a low budget movie not a big budget one and how it should make waves in the industry as to how a sci-fi can be done without outrageous costs.

I saw District 9 over the weekend, and I loved this film.
I liked the story as well as the issues of segregation and racism the film dealt with. You can feel sorry for the main character in the film who was wanted by the giant corporation as well as the alien and his son.
I loved the special effects of the film as well as the action scenes. Some of the scenes were quite disturbing.
I hope that there will be sequel consider how the film ended.
I give a film a grade of an A-.
I recommend that you see this film.
ENJOY!!!!!

Saw it last night and found it well worth the admission. Good acting from unknowns and great special effects.
1 part worth noting was when the guy got home. When he got out of the car I thought I heard him fart. He walks in his house and says to his wife "I need to go clean up I think I just crapped in my pants.." and then they walk into another rooma dn he's got a surprise party waiting on him. hahahaha, he had to shake hands and greet everyone with a pantload of snickers bars!!!

Awesome movie. At its heart it was a commentary on social segregation and how all people are xenophobic to a degree. It was an interesting irony to see the "downtrodden" blacks insisting upon a form of apartheid.
This is definitely how science fiction needs to be done.

Which surprises me considering that, while the Prawns were done mostly by CGI, it looked absolutely and totally real. You knew it had to be computer because it would have been impossible to be costumes and they moved too realistically and complexly to be robots or puppets. It was the best CGI I have ever seen, and have seen a lot considering I am a sci-fi buff.
