British swimming pools have begun hosting special Muslim swim sessions during which swimmers — including non-Muslims — are banned from entering the pool if their swimming attire doesn't comply with dress code required by Islamic custom.
Under the rules, men must be covered from the naval to the knees, while women, who swim separately, must be covered from the neck to the ankles, according to the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph newspaper.
.....
One British lawmaker defended the Muslim swim sessions, telling the Telegraph that they show an appreciation for certain religious groups, like Muslims, who have strict rules on segregation for activities including sports.
Is this appreciation or appeasement?

Are the French insensitive bastards? Muslim Woman Banned From Parisian Public Pool for Wearing 'Burquini' (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,539108,00.html?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a16:g12:r1:c 0.169981:b27179252:z0)
French officials say a Muslim woman wearing a head-to-toe swimsuit has been denied access to a public swimming pool in a town southeast of Paris.
Emerainville Mayor Alain Kelyor said Wednesday the 35-year-old woman was not allowed to swim in the pool wearing a so-called "burquini" covering her body from head to toe.
Officials say the outfit is unhygienic and potentially harmful to other swimmers.

Your link doesn't work for me, but I think it's the choice of the pool owners.

Yes...it is. :shhh:
Here's why it's appeasement. Open swim session to the public that requires all swimmers to meet a standard of dress that is not the 'norm' in swim attire. To make all swimmers met this fully clothed standard meets only one groups requirement due to a religious belief. That's appeasement. :boohoo:
There's an easy solution however. They should simply state the session as purely Islamic/Muslim session only...takes it right out of the realm of forcing others to bend to a religion they do not worship within. But then, that would be special rights for a minority group wouldn't it? Hmmm...real pickle there. Leave it to the British to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Remember first that had special pool days for Muhammedans only. Now the bathing suit issue comes into pay... It appears to be islamization and appeasment to me...

Yes it is. But only if they are public swimming pools.

It's over the top, definitely, and not because these special sessions are that unreasonable. The problem is the trend this is part of. If this were an isolated case, okay, whatever - it's not like it's going to make anyone modest anyway, and it isn't like modesty is unreasonable.
But when you consider everything else going on in the UK, this is part of a much greater insanity.

Could be seen as the market operating as it should. We have a lot of Muslims, ergo people can make money by running Muslim swimming.
HUmmmm.
