Judge refuses to lower bail for cop accused of assaults

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A judge Friday refused to lower the bond for an Anchorage police officer who's accused of sexually assaulting a half-dozen women.
Anthony Rollins, a 13-year veteran of the APD, was trying to get his $100,000 bail reduced, but Judge Phillip Volland refused.
The district attorney's office says the judge decided that the current bail amount is fair, and he would not consider reducing it because other offenders charged with fewer offenses have had higher bails.
The judge also refused to approve Rollins' wife as a third-party custodian.
Two mothers of the alleged victims read emotional statements to the judge during Friday's hearing. Prosecutors say some of the women Rollins is accused of assaulting were in the courtroom Friday for the hearing.
