• Equalize the tax laws so that employer-provided health insurance and individually owned health insurance have the same tax benefits.
• Repeal all state laws which prevent insurance companies from competing across state lines.
• Repeal government mandates regarding what insurance companies must cover.
• Enact tort reform to end the ruinous lawsuits that force doctors to pay insurance costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
• Make costs transparent so that consumers understand what health-care treatments cost.
• Enact Medicare reform.
• Finally, revise tax forms to make it easier for individuals to make a voluntary, tax-deductible donation to help the millions of people who have no insurance and aren't covered by Medicare, Medicaid or the State Children's Health Insurance Program.

I'd like a whole foods here.
The organic selection available in my town is fairly limited. I suppose there is enough at my grocery store to have the entire diet organic, but it'd be lacking variety and get dull.

While I do not agree with everything he proposes, what he did is very American. He entered the debate. He sounds like a good guy.
It's a shame that some of his customers are going nuts and boycotting his store because he had the audacity to voice an opinion.
Things in this country are getting to a sad state.

Whole Foods have first-rate butcher shops, and Fish shops. Pretty decent wine selections, too.

I did not make an assumption......I don't have one in my town but have been in other cities. I remember the wine but not the first rate butcher shops. It still had a liberal type of feel to it......sorry. I would still shop there...I love to shop...a little too much.

It is amazing how the solution in most Politician's eyes to a health system screwed up by Government involvement is more Government involvement (takeover)!!
I am a physician, and have seen this entire thing from the inside for 18 years. Check out our blog for a bunch of good articles dealing with this stuff. I have posts under SCHIP, Death of Private Insurance, paying for healthcare reform: another AMT etc. I have several colleagues who also post some pretty thought provoking articles from insider's view. Stop by if you have time

Does "Whole Foods Market" still contribute to Planned Parenthood (or is this a different Whole Foods)?

Two wrongs don't make a right, but don't get me started about Red China.
Free trade for free countries - NOT communist countries. And we have to stop borrowing from them. They are our enemy.

Don't assume that those who are vegan, those who avoid anything with the ingredients "hydrogenated fats/oils", "partiallly hydrogenated fats/oils", or "shortening" listed (and READ labels before buying/consuming), are only liberal-minded.
In fact, your brain needs GOOD fats/oils to run properly, and to think clearly, and for keeping your body running smoothly.
Some people (the fundamentalist "conservatives/Republicans") will roll their eyes, chomp down on their "transfats" (which all those ingredients listed above are), and say to themselves: "I'm gonna eat whatever the hell I want!", not REALIZING they are eating man-made PLASTIC fats that CLOG and SLUDGE mind and heart. You know, they do it because they think they know what's good for them.
I am OPPOSED to the Government sticking their NOSES into our DIETS. NO GOVERNMENT REGULATION.
But at Whole Foods, you can shop freely. Whole Foods, does not put ANYTHING on their shelves which has that health-damaging, mind-sludging, crap in it.
How cool is that? Whole Foods actually CARES about what you eat! Isn't that awesome to think about--a company that actually CARES about their patrons!
Throw your partisan hat away, and THINK before you eat so you can THINK.

I don't know if they do or don't.
However, I will not boycott them because of it.
If you do boycott Whole Foods because they support Planned Parenthood, perhaps they are supporting a specific area of Planned Parenthood--the part that supports those who are planning to be parents (that DOES exist in Planned Parenthood--it is not all about abortions).
Either way, if you boycott Whole Foods because they support Planned Parenthood, we too, as Americans, "pay for" abortions through taxes. If you boycott Whole Foods for assumed support of abortion, you should also stop paying taxes--are you going to do that too?

The best piece I've read by far, regarding this issue. I'd also add doing something about illegal immigration,I don't why it wasn't included in this otherwise excellent piece.

I boycott everyone who contributes to Planned Parenthood for whatever reason. If they donate to a part of PP that doesn't perform abortions, it still frees up $$ for PP to use for abortions.

In fairness to Whole Foods, I did a search, and it appears that it is SOME individual markets that contribute to Planned Parenthood.
Here's what I found:
"A clarification on this Whole Foods community forum might help explain things: http://is.gd/2fjQc. The money graph:
While Whole Foods Market’s donation policy allows our stores the freedom to choose organizations that are important to our communities and Team Members, on a corporate level, Whole Foods Market Inc. has not provided donations or financial support to Planned Parenthood.
— Whole Foods rep
It sounds like individual stores could contribute to Planned Parenthood if they wanted; the best way to know where your money is going seems to be to contact the particular store in question."

I agree - this whole debacle is being justified on the inflation of health care costs killing the economy.
Yet I am having a problem finding ANYTHING in HR3200 that even tries to cut costs.
In fact, it kills the Health Savings Accounts implemented under Bush in 2003 - one of the few sensible HC plans.
It looks like this is what Whole Foods has for their employees.
So why, in 1000 pages, is the root cause not addressed?
Perhaps its just a red herring - something to justify government interference?
Or does it not matter, since their aim is control, not cost containment?
Can anyone find ANY cost reduction / control measures in this bill? Thanks.

The experience of a friend's battle with a cancerous growth in the spine, and also seeing a friend blow out her knee is experience to understand the dangers. Use that, and learning how long it takes for treatment of their problems in other countries, has proven its point. My dancer friend would lose two years of her professional life with socialised medicine, instead of just one year (she could recover faster). My college friend could be dead by now if that cancerous growth in her spine wasn't removed.
And I find knee and hip replacement surgery commercials on air. One of those ads makes me nostalgic, considering it's now been nearly 20 years since I met her . . . and was magic! Can you imagine with ObamaCare, how a 41-year old mother would be in severe pain and be paralysed as they would not allow her to have surgery to repair symptoms from her teens?
