Talk about surreal. My family and I were watching Sean on his TV show earlier tonight during which we started a family discussion about how Sean likes to wear Super Bowl rings of Super Bowel winners when he has them on. Our family discussion then digressed into the history of football, and how the roots of the game are based on the ancient Mayan game called, The Ball Game. Then we went on to the topic of what the game represented in regard to the Mayan calendar; end of the world ect. In the middle of this family discussion at such time Sean makes an announcement right before his last commercial break, the Mayan Calendar.

Okay, were all a bit freaked out about it here in my house, but all here in our household appreciate the coincidence with level heads. Hope others do too.

Well, those in your family are correct. I know one of the first incarnations of basketball was in the Mayan culture and players were required to pass a small metal ball through a ring in order to score. The ring was usually lodged into a brick wall. I'm sure you could Google it and find out more... maybe type in ancient mayan sports. It's rather interesting to find out about ancient cultures and how they would pass their time through sports and athletics.

The Mayan calendar has been in the near background of news these past few months. I believe there is even a movie coming out soon simply titled '2012', which is the date at the end of the Mayan calendar prior to resetting/recycling over once more. I'm hearing more and more mention of it here and there on different news programs.

It's interesting how your family's discussion went from football rings to the game of football to were the game originated (even if loosely) which lead you to the Mayans. Bet it was a discussion your family dearly enjoyed...hopefully there will be more like it in the future. That your conversation ran right into Sean's next topic...I'd say one in a million.
