I don't think he or the Eagles will get a moment's peace. If I were him, I would have taken the existing money I had, bought a nice home somewhere in the middle of nowhere and just lived in peace (without hurting animals).
From what I have experienced with animal rights activists, they often are the meanest people around. They will probably hound this guy (and the Eagles) to no end.
I heard his confession. Sorry, folks, he didn't sound genuine. I listened to a representative last night from an animal activist group, and he had a point, that Michael should be tested by trained psychiatrists to see whether he is pathological. It has been shown that kids/people who enjoy mistreating/killing animals very often have deep psychological problems.

If you remove all the criminals from professional sports, you're left with....
college sports?

Agreed.
I don't like Vick. If I were an NFL owner, I would not hire him.
But if someone is willing to give him a chance, he ought to be able to take it. Maybe he can become an example of how to turn one's life around.

As DLaw said, he served his time. He's out now and I don't like the guy and I think he's a jerk but if some team wants to give him a chance, so be it.

I don't like anyone who would hurt innocent animals like Vick, and am glad the Panthers didn't sign him, but if the Eagles want him, they can have him.

The fact that I consider his treatment of helpless animals appalling does not mean he should get the death penalty and lose his career.
He paid a SEVERE price for what he did. He lost tens of millions in endorsements. He was deprived of his freedom. His reputation is down the toilet and he must now prove that he is and will remain a law-abiding member of society. Frankly I hope he succeeds and becomes a role model.

I agree. What he did was ****ty, but he has certainly suffered the consequences for it. Not to mention, he is working with the humane society to try and at least make a bad situation, somewhat better. Obviously we will see what happens, but he at least appears to be making an honest effort to do things for the community and trying to raise awareness of animal rights. So as of now, I think he deserves a second chance. If he ****s up in any major way from here on out, then his career is over though.

Yep and as you have said, there are other felons in the NFL that have done terrible things, murders, assaults, etc such as Donte Stallworth. I honestly hope the guy turns his life around, mends his ways and leads an upstanding life too, as you said. They guy is a jerk for what he did but he served his time and if he has a chance to turn it around, I say let him do it.

Vick did two years for killing dogs, Stallworth did 30 days for running down a human while impaired. I'm still trying to figure out why the dogs crime was more heinous and drew the stiffer penalty?

I don't think anyone is saying the life of a dog is worth more than the life of a human. (Well, some PETA nuts might argue that, but most wouldn't.)
I think the disparity in sentences comes down to intent. Vick intended to commit his crime, Stallworth didn't. I know some will argue that getting behind the wheel of a car drunk shows intent, and I would agree to some extent. I just don't believe Stallworth intended to kill anyone. Vick, on the other hand, absolutely intended to run an apparently very complex and organized dog fighting ring.

Animal rights activists are nothing compared to Philly sports fans in terms of meanness and the ability to hound a foe. PETA stands no chance.

I tell you what...
When I see your comparable letters to the teams currently employing Randy McMichael (domestic abuse, multiple occasions) Leonard Little (vehicular manslaughter, multiple DUI's), Brandon Marshall (multiple domestic abuse charges), Randy Moss (tried to run over a cop), Chris Henry (aggravated assault (I think he pistol-whipped someone), DUI, providing alcohol to minors), Tank Johnson (assault, resisting arrest), Ricky Manning Jr, Cortland Finnegan, Adam Jones (multiple assault charges, still under investigation for a murder charge), Ray Lewis (obstructing justice in a murder investigation), Koren Robinson, Brian Williams, BJ Sams, Odell Thurman, Steve Foley, Khalif Barnes, Marcus Coleman and Antonio Bryant (most of these are people with multiple DUI arrests, except those noted)....you might get me to jump in on your protest.
Until then, your hypocrisy is noted.
(note...most of that list is just from 2006...I added McMichael, Little, Marshall and Moss from memory).

I'm an ex-Eagles fan because of the Vick signing. I refuse to root for that piece of scum and the team that lowered itself to signing him. In one offseason, they get rid of Dawkins and gain Vick.
I hope Dawkins wins a ring in Denver, but as of now, I care a lot less about the NFL than I used to...

I'll agree with this and add that from the moment the Stallworth incident happened he fully cooperated with the police, admitted guilt and has done everything in his power to make it up to the family of the dead man.
Vick, on the other hand, lied through his teeth from the moment allegations surfaced and it was only after the evidence became irrefutable and he knew his butt was in the wringer that he tried to back peddal to save what was left of his ass.
P.S. Stallworth didn't just get 30 days in jail, he's on house arrest for two years.
