Yesterday I go to get some gas and see this car leaving the gas station.
Late 80's, light blue Oldsmobile Cutlass. Left rear side hanging lower than the right. Paint job faded/messed up, windows down so I assume no AC (since it was 100 degrees), something wrong with the frame because where the door met the fron quarter panel it was bent downwards somewhat, driver's door a dark blue because it was a replacement. All of that, and they were riding on very large chrome rimms and large, low profile tires. I don't know much about the car trends but from what I've heard these rims and tires are very expensive. Why put rims on a piece of crap like that? What possible sense does that make? Why not buy a decent car with the money? In my neck of the woods it's usually either an oldsmobile (but not usually that old) or the late 80's crown vic with the huge chrome rims and lift kit.

I've seen that quite a few times in my neck of the woods. I'll also see either stupid teenagers or 20 something guys driving around in "rice rockets" with body kits and HUGE spoilers on the back of their car. These same morons think the spoiler is going to increase their performance. These cars can't even achieve a high enough speed where the HUGE spoiler would be beneficial which is why it's stupid.

The rims probably fell off the back of a truck somewhere...
My favorite was when I saw an old-ass Plymouth Voyager rocking spinners. I cried because I was laughing so hard at them.

Does anyone also notice Lincoln town cars (the 1990's models) with the back end bottoming out? EVERY single 1990's model year Lincoln town car I see is dragging it's rear. It doesn't matter who's driving it either from young kids to the elderly.

oh yea depending on the rim size they could cost upwards of $4000 and higher plus the tires. I wanted a new set of STOCK wheels for my caddy, cause there very nice, and i wanted a set of summer wheels and winter wheels so the salt didnt pit em, they were gonna cost me 850 a piece!!!

lol, no thanks far too much fun driving my car to ditch her. Although if I wasent so attached to her the extra money in car payments would be a great thing to have, but i think Id give up the old lady, or a kid (if i had one) befor Id give up the caddy!!! LOL

that one is also a head scratcher for me as well. I saw more of that growing up. There seems to have been a shift though in recent years to somewhat nicer homes and piece of crap cars with expensive wheels.

Defective airbag suspension; VERY expensive to repair, more than the car is worth.

Same thing for my '62 Beetle.
It's also not legally required to have a shoulder strap on the seat belt.
As to cheap cars with expensive rims, there are tons around here.
My favorite though is the $300 piece of crap with the $1000+ sound system shaking it to bits.

Absolutely ridiculous.

That, and those rice-burning Hondas and Nissans are front-wheel drive cars. A spoiler works AGAINST a FWD car at high speeds, costing it traction as the rear end is pushed down by the atmosphetic friction.

A while back, I was driving around town, and I was behind this 70s-era guzzlermobile (may have been a cadillac) with a rusted and oxidized frame and the back fender hanging halfway to the ground.
Inside, however, I could see TV monitors behind each of the two front seats and in the front between the seats, and the kids were watching a DVD.
I kid you not.

I drive an old SUV with rusted fenders, dirty as all get out, drive with windows down, because AC uses too much gas, had to break down and buy a new stereo. Can't afford to buy a house with 4 wheels, so I'll keep my old piece of crap thank you.

..I also love it when they take the Honda logo off and put an Accura one on... I recall about 20 years ago, someone had pounded out the TOYOTA embossed across the tailgate of a small truck and replaced it with TONKA.
(They did a nice clean job too.)
