My wife suggested I read The Lightning Thief.
I found the first book compelling. Not a literary masterpiece, but a good story.
I travel a lot, so I get a lot of time on planes to read, so I think I will finish out the series.

Anyone else read this series?

My wife also says they are making it into a movie now...

Ok, my curiosity is getting the better of me? Riordan as in, the ex-mayor of Los Angeles or (please tell this one is true) another completely different Riordan?

Another completely different Riordan, I'm sure.

This guy's name is Rick Riordan, and he's a teacher in San Antonio.

I haven't read them yet, but my sons love them. Listened to part of one on tape with them. It's pretty good.

I would put them on the same reading level as CS Lewis books, 8 year old kids can get into them and kids my age enjoy them also. Easy reading, good storyline... I'm halfway through the second book now. I should be taking my wife's copy of the third book on Thursday.
