This thread is for those of us who are trying to find how or where to get music that they don't sell at your average store.

I have two to start with. First a Dutch band from the 70's called "Spin". They were a jazz fusion band and had a couple of albums. The one I'm looking for is called simply "Spin". There is a track on the album called "Grasshopper" that can be found on Youtube, but I cannot find where to buy a CD of the album, or even if they ever put in on CD.

My second one is a group from the 80's called "Fashion". They were a British new wave band and had an album called "Fabrique". I am interested in aquiring that album as well. There is also a Youtube video of a song called "You Only Left Your Picture" that is from that album. It's a very good song.

Please list any music you have had difficulty in finding? Maybe someone here could help. :D

Can you say where you first heard the song? Radio?

Thanks. That pretty much shows what I have found everywhere else.... the album is just available on vinyl, not on CD.

Thanks.... I'll check them out. It's funny that there's music out there that has made some impact on one's life in some way, that just isn't readily available. I first heard this album in 1976 when I was in college (Ball State). There was a record store just off campus called "The Strand", and they used to play different albums while folks were browsing. They put this on and I immediately bought it. I think I may actually still have the LP in the dark recesses of my garage, but I no longer have a turntable to play vinyl. I'm hoping that somewhere, someone has decided it's a good enough album to put on a CD.

I was born in 1956 in an Army hospital. I came out of the womb standing at attention and saluting the flag. I was ordered by the CO at that time to not ever take a liking to crappy music, and I have obeyed that order all my life.

Supertramp is awesome, dude. Not one of their songs has a single curse word in it. I'm happy to be from a generation that appreciates well crafted music instead of the attitude noise that is so prevalent now. :wall:

The lack of a curse word is not the definition of "good music". Good music can have no bad words, a bunch of bad words, or no words at all.

I agree with 2 out of 3 of those statements. If a song needs to have bad words, it isn't good music. If the artist isn't creative enough to get the same message across without all the profanity, I don't waste my time with them. :hand:

To each their own in that respect...I don't need it to have profanity, but I also don't care if it does.

Another issue I'd like to interject: at least in the "good ol' days" musicians played their own instruments - they didn't play themselves (wow!! what a novel idea!) - and they didn't have to sample other people's music, they made their own!

Son of Rock and Roll - Rocky Burnette

The album is not available on CD, and probably never will be, except for the one company I found that will make a CD recording of the album, for about $75. Uh, no thanks...

"Hardline" - Waylon Jennings

I've only been able to find it on an import cassette, never on CD. The cassette was the soundtrack for Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man; I've never found it on any of his albums or compilations...

I found the soundtrack to the movie on CD at Amazon in both new and used, but the cost is prohibitive.

Yeah, more than I'd like to pay for essentially a single song. If that were the cost of a compilation, that would be different, but as it is...

Have you tried looking for the song on an MP3 download site? Maybe you could just get the one song for cheap.

Die Jahreszeiten. I had to find it on Amazon and it wasn't the right version I needed to help learn the song when a group of us sang it this week.

Zebra...1st and 2nd albums. You can get the 1st one on CD through Amazon...for a ridiculous price...

Randy Jackson is a very under-rated guitarist. His lead on "Bears" (2nd album) should be required listening to any wannabe rock gods as to how to give a guitar a workout while still remaining within the structure of the song being played. And I still love his acoustic work on "Who's Behind The Door?".

Would that album by any chance contain a song called "Tired Of Toein' The Line"?
