I finally saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince over the weekend, and it was a great film.

As with the last couple of Harry Potter films, I liked the dark look of the film. I also liked the humor of the movie involving Harry's friend and his crush as well as how it deals with Hermione's feelings for him.

I liked the special effects of the film and liked the way it ended because it's a perfect set-up for the next film. Towards the end, it appeared it dragged a little bit.

However, it was a great film to watch.

On a scale of one to ten, I give this film an eight.

ENJOY!!!!!!

I did not like the fact they did not have the big fight when the Deatheaters were in Hogwarts. Perfect opportunity for some great CGI and such and they left it out. :(

Saw it today and I loved it. First of the movies to not really have an ending, but more of a setup for the finale.

Probably going to read the last book now, because I don't feel like waiting to finish the story. (Also, they're going to split the last book into two movies, so it will be an even longer wait.)

I wish Harry Potter would just get killed off. Why more writers don't kill off their main characters I will never know.

yeah! i wrote a series of 12 500 page books in which the main character gets killed on the first page. the other 5999 pages is mostly about how much i hate folding laundry and the time i burped and it smelled like cheese cake....

so far i have not been about to find a publisher.

I don't think killing off Harry Potter would have worked for this series.

But I agree, more authors need to be more like George R.R. Martin.

Found the 6th movie entertaining but as noted, would have liked a much bigger final battle scene than movie showed. Fun with the budding romances and just enough of the more serious part of the book included to keep the story line on track. Will be fun to watch the final 2 part movie of the 7th book.

They also just dropped Tonks in with Remus without explaining how they got there or who Tonks was.......and her hair wasn't rainbow, which i thought was odd.

But really, I thought it was quite good.

She couldn't kill him off. That was the whole gist of the series. One of them had to die. Either Harry (good) or Voldemort (bad) in order for "their" side to win. Kill off Harry, evil wins.

I found it fascinating that they chose to excise the whole "Snape Hates Harry" thing. They did it, but the way they continued it was brilliantly done.

Further, it was interesting to see the focus was more on the character development rather than nifty spell-work. I was curious to see what was to come of the battle, but as it stood, it worked for me.

It was a lovely adaptation.

All in all it was pretty good. They really did have quite a bit of stuff they had to pack into this one and there was no way they were going to do it all. I really do wish they would have included the fight scene as Snape etc. left Hogwarts. But that's just me. :)

There was quite a bit of humor in this one too and I liked that.

The movie was pretty good but don't waste your money on the IMAX version. There is barely any 3D at all, except for maybe the first five minutes of the movie. Pretty disappointing in that regard.

Oh dear gods, you can't possibly have that happen.

You know kill them both off in firey pillar of doom or something, because after that many novels they've both wore out their welcome.

Not enough characters in that one die in my opinion either.

I get to the point in novel series (especially fantasy and sci-fi) where the the protagonists cheat death in my opinion one too many times, to the point of what I conisder "zippy". yeah it's made up, but one can only suspend disbelief so much.

You can't, because the whole story hinged on a prophecy. "..........and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.." that was the whole story line. One had to kill the other.

But don't tell me. You never read the books, right?

It's a damn story that didn't end the way you think it should.

can't wait to see this one - I wish that JK Rowling would write a series about James, Sirius, Lilly, Lupin and Snape at Hogwarts - what it was like when they were there, the first rise of Voldermort, everything that led up to Harry surviving - I think that would be most awesome!!!

::eyeroll:: Beacuse you know prophecy isn't an overused plot device in fantasy/sci fi at all.

I started them, until I got annoyed.

No, I don't like it. I think it's absolutely lame.

(She has acknowledged that she is amused by some of the fan fiction that has been written.)

I think the whole idea of the romantic pairing of Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks was a serious nod to the fan fiction writers and other fans who discussed such things endlessly and liked such things. Otherwise, in the books, I really didn't see the connection. It seemed rather spurious at the time.

At least, the movie gave said romance a little more foundation.

She is particularly bemused and confused with the fan reaction of entirely too much fan sympathy for Draco and/or Professor Snape. Paraphrasing her, she said something like, "What's the matter with you people? They are NOT nice people. I've gone out of my way to make clear that they are NOT nice. The only reason I can think you sympathize and love these characters so much is the actors who play them."

The fact that she created (intentionally or not) some of the most complex characters and doesn't want to admit WHY people might actually realize that the characters have deeper dimensions than she intended amuses ME to no end.

ENJOY!!!!!!I was disappointed in some of teh omissions from the book. I think it would have helped those who have not read the series to see what Voldemort's family had been like, so I was disappointed that they omitted the memory where the man from the ministry goes to Marvolo Gaunt's house and we are introduced to Marvolo, his son (whose name escapes me) and his daughter Merope. I think, though, for the most part it was pretty well done, but I would have like also to have seen the concluding battle that Rowling had written. I'd say a 7 out of 10.

More backstory would have been nice, but dang..........they had a lot they were going to have to try and cram into this movie. As I already posted, I too would have liked to see the final battle on screen.

The movie left me cold as did most of the HP movies. I thought the books were excellent apart from the last one which could have been a hundred pages or so shorter.

My favourite HP book was Order of the Phoenix.
