Usually, it doesn't matter to me who Sean or Rush get to guest host their shows but some of their guest hosts often impress me as being more establishment Republican types than genuine conservatives. With Rush, it is usually the Mark from Texas, Mark Davis, that impresses me that way. With Sean, it's the guy he had guest host today, Bob Grant.
When you listen to Bob Grant at first, you think he is a bona fide conservative first and foremost until you come to who he will support in any given election.
For instance, a guy from Florida called today about supporting a true, genuine conservative for the US Senate, I think that's the office he was talking about. I think the guy mentioned was named Rubio, I'm not certain since I don't live in Florida. And the guy was hoping that Bob Grant would also be supportive of the true conservative in the race over the governor of Florida, Gov. Crisp, but Grant wasn't at all supportive. Grant brang up the old canard that the genuine conservative couldn't win. I kept wondering if he said the same thing about Ronald Reagan when he first went for higher office.
But this wasn't the only instance today of Bob Grant's inside-the-beltway Republican leanings surfacing. Several callers today, who were clearly disgusted with how Bush had done things which led to the rise of the communists in the Democrat Party like Obama, like exploding our budget, were summarily debunked by Bob Grant as really being democrats.
Does Bob Grant have a clue as to what the Tea Parties have been all about? Many people who have gone to the Tea Parties are genuinely disgusted with both political parties and they are mostly and strongly conservative in their views about most issues. They want a strong national defense and want us to fight to win against Islamofascist terrorist. They want taxes cut. They want our tax code overhauled and simplified. They are by and large conservative on issues such as abortion, education, marriage, prayer, the flag, etc. They are the complete opposite in views to most of what the inside-the-beltway Republicans hold and yet, like the inside-the-beltway Republicans they are summarily dismissed by Bob Grant.
Basically, it is the old canard that only the two-party system works and we have to keep doing things the way we've always done it. I doubt if Bob Grant would have supported choosing Sarah Palin as McLame's VP and certainly doubt he supports her decision to leave office as governor of Alaska even though I think it was a brilliant decision on her part which basically told both the Democrats and the establishment Republicans a pox on both your houses.
In any event, I wish Hannity and also Rush would get some better guest hosts. The only guest host that Rush gets that I genuinely think is fantastic is Mark Steyn.
With Hannity, the one I've always liked the best is Curtis Sliwa of the Guardian Angels' fame.
I do wish Hannity would experiment with someone like Kathy Ireland as guest host or Ann Coulter or the one I think would be the best - Michelle Malkin.
In fact, I wish Rush would let Michelle Malkin guest host his show sometimes. She does great conservative reporting and has dared to take on Michelle Obama over her patient dumping scheme in Chicago.
Well, that's what I think about some of these things.
