A set back for determining what the Federal Reserve has been up to. Not surprising, but disappointing. If Congressman Paul's effort to audit the fed also fails, we may never know. An appeal of this ruling is likely to happen.

I think this has been happening for a long long time...
Perhaps... but there's no attempt to hide it anymore or to make it look like they care what their bosses think.

Not far off. The last explanation that I heard was, that if we knew which banks had participated, that there might be a run on them. One could see where a government that is ever expanding the term "extremists", would consider that a domestic security issue.

The federal reserve seems to be at the center of a great many things. Other private companies that deal with the government, such as defense contractors can have justifications for keeping secrets like this, but we were promised transparency.
Of course we have been promised a lot by both major parties and we all know how that is turning out.
