Sergeant Crowley has selected Blue Moon, a Belgian-style wheat beer.I'm going with the Sarge on this one. He's my kind of beer drinker. The other two guys (what were their names again) ... they're whimps.

I was hoping they would all get lickered up and shoot some hoops and the loser had to strip totally naked and run through downtown DC. And let me assure you that person would not be Obama.

Well at least it isn't Keystone Beer. That stuff is really nasty. Pabst Blue Ribbon isn't far behind.

Now, if they had all done shots, then I would be impressed. So far they haven't done anything my grandpa wouldn't do on a quiet night.

I like Blue Moon...never tried it before I worked in Kentucky this past winter and spring...It's brewed in Colorado, but it's a big deal there..Blue Moon of Kentucky..
It's similar to a Heffeweizzen, which is my beer of choice. Good stuff.

To me, it's the thought that counts not the brand of beer.
In my small way this weekend, I too intend to address the issues of racism by drinking as many beers as possible (it's my husband's birthday weekend).
And if at all possible, with some shots of tequila, I will aim for peace in the middle east.

Oh, college memories. I was but a wee freshman, no older than 18, stumbling home after too many cans of BEAST at a frat party I didn't really belong at.

Obama chose Bud Lite because his staff told him it was the most popular beer in America. Had they told him it was O' Horse **** he would have chosen that.

Throwback pop is good. I like throwback Dr Pepper. I noticed that in some areas around here in Ohio throwback pops are making their way into grocery stores. My sister is big into Coke that has sugar instead of corn syrup. There's also a local bottler here that is going throwback and that is good, brings back memories to what their stuff tasted like when I was a kid.

Beer is soooo much more than just a "drink." Getting a buzz on is not the motive of the majority of beer aficionados. People who drink beer to get drunk are the mainstay of the run-of-the-mill beer producers like Budweiser and Miller; they are not "into" micro brews per se.

Haha yes I remember my grandpa drinking it! My siblings and I were talking about that a couple weeks ago. If I remember correctly he bought it at the local Kroger and it was in a yellow can and had BEER printed on the can in bold black letters. I can't say I ever drank it though.

I like Blue Moon a lot, but I do miss Shiner Bock from when I lived in Texas.
Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Yuengling Black & Tan aren't bad, and I do end up drinking more Heineken and Killian's than I ever plan initially.
Football season is starting up, though, so it might be time to "slum" it with Miller Lite more often than not. *shudders*

I gotta say it took me a little while to find a beer I liked, myself. I don't think most people drink it to just get a buzz though - maybe some beers, i.e. Bud Light. But there are definitely lots of good beers with awesome flavors worth savoring.

People who drink to get drunk should stay home and drink water, leave the real drinkers to enjoy themselves. Beer something to enjoy, and if you get a buzz its an added bonus! just like a good rum drink or other hard liquor

By real beer I mean beer with character... not the generic "dumbed down" crap brewed in mass production breweries like Bud and Miller.
Mixed drinks are fine, but they are a completely different beverage. They cannot be directly compared to beer unless your purpose for drinking is simply the alcohol. It is like saying that cake is better than ice cream when your goal is to just to have a pleasant dessert.

Agreed, German beer is the best! I even drank that sewer water OB Lager in Korea. Mixed drinks are cool as long as they have some bite. I have to say my favorite mixed drink would have to be a Hurricane, gotta get back to N.O. someday. :)

Yeah I agree, I can't do the mass produced main stream beers either. Yuengling is the only mass produced beer I like, actually I love the stuff! I love visiting the microbreweries and sampling their brews. It's microbrews all the way for me.

For a nice "dank" IPA, you should try New Holland's Mad Hatter.
For a nice imported change of pace, try Belhaven from Scotland.
For a nice mass-produced beer you've never had, get your hands on some Rhinelander.
