The article you linked to, doesn't clear anything up.
It does not say that Cyrus denied that he was her fiancee. It's all third party comments. Nothing from her.
He also says that the father has met him and given his blessings.
There is no denial from the father that this is true.

Besides, this guy looks like a man who would have a wife with a name like Miley or Muley.
