SO we need a stupidity tax as well.. If were going to single out people why not single out Females....they have greater health problems than males and cost more money in general? Lets tax blacks more because they have higher instances of heart problems at a younger age... tax the poor more because their lack of preventative health care cost more in the end of life.

I mean this has the potential to segregate the country by race, class, and gender... talk about racial wars and class wars... this thing is ugly

the unintended consequences....where do they end and where do they take us??

So called sin taxes are wrong no matter what group of people they are applied to.Smokers or the obese.

here is an idea. How about we make health insurance like auto insurance. You can buy a plan that fits your needs when young for a low price then as time goes by the premiums only increase if your lifestyle leads to health problems. This way you are wholly responsible for your actions and no one else has to pay more for your bad health decisions.

watching mike moore go broke cause he is fat..priceless!I'm sure that the Dems will create a loophole big enough to squeeze Mike Moore through, but strategically placed to block anyone but libs from using it. This is the party that wants to tax you healthcare benefits, but will create a loophole for you if you are a union member.

Lessons from the tobacco wars eh?

from the article

If you happen to be the 1-in-3 Americans who is neither obese nor overweight (and, thus, considered at risk of becoming obese), you might well conclude that the habits of the remaining two-thirds of Americans are costing you, big time.

First lesson, you won't be passing punitive taxes against the majority, that crap only works on the minority groups. So go ahead, you'll be losing your cushy political jobs morons.

If you make less than $250k a year you will be exempt from the obese tax.

Look for dramatic increases in the Food Stamp budget too.

SO the poor can buy that hideously expensive health food, you know, like water, oatmeal, legumes and kale. As opposed to that cheap junk food like Doritos, pizza and rootbeer.

Who are the most obese people in America? Studies show it but if I say it, I would be labeled a racist.

I've got an idea. Lets bombard people with pesticides in their food, lets put soy isoflavanoids in most baked good, and lets put hormones in their meat (all 3 increase estrogen related maladies like breast cancer and impotence and major diseases like obesity) and put things in their "diet" food that give them cravings so they actually eat more and make them sick (nutrasweet), and bombard them with mouthwatering commercials on Tv so they'll eat more fast foods (1/4 cup of salty mayo on each burger) and then lets punish them for being fat with a tax.

They should all get outside and exercise and get skin cancer and high impact joint problems instead.

Well, those programs don't have 20 years. The fact that there are far more baby boomers than gen x-ers means that the ponzi schemes cannot go beyond that point. The pyramid falls when there are less on the bottom than the top.

I'd just like to see an objective study of who really cost the taxpayer more, when factoring in everything, the obese or the fit. Nursing homes aren't cheap and sports related injury is also a huge expenditure. Not to mention that with only the top ten percent of earners paying in more then they use in services, well you get the idea.

Interesting. That ties in with the liberal sophistry that the statist totalitarian run healthcare in other countries produces longer lifespans. Well, only if you caount accidental deaths. We are a bit more reckless over here and wealthier per capita so we have far more fatal accidents. When it comes to surviving actual sickness, our healthcare system is the best hands down. Not one statist totalitarian health system in any of those eurotrash systems comes even close.

Yep car crashes and homicides alone takes us out of the number one spot and that's not even counting our obesity rate, has nothing to do with our health care system.

Taxing fat people would be unfair.

Healthcare should be provided based on one's BMI.

The higher your BMI the less healthcare you would be entitled to, thus reducing the overall healthcare cost to the American tax payer!

There's only one place for a loophole that big - on Ripley's Believe it or not....

Then again, it might could go in the Guinness Book of World Records too.....

Actually you're not far off the mark. We just got the dreaded news that our company offered healthcare was going to go up dramtically. The reasons were because we hired too many young females who can get pregnant, we have employees that crossed the dreaded age 60 threshold and we have had high turnover.
