Well, I'll take the blame for not putting the recycling outside when it was full, and we've been pretty hot & humid here in NJ for the last week or so, but holy crap I can't believe how fast these buggers propagate!
Everything has been removed that they can feed off of, and everything has been sanitized, but they keep popping up!
They have a 7 to 10 day incubation period, but damn, some "superfly" must've laid a thousand eggs in a secret hiding place somewhere in my kitchen, because its been non-stop for 2 weeks now.
Any suggestions?

I'll give it a try. I've been using bleach to sanitize everything, but I didn't think of a pure insecticide angle... :)

Embarrassingly enough, I currently have my Shop-Vac in the kitchen to vacuum any of them I see out of the air. :)

I feel for you. I had that happen once and it seems like it takes forever to get rid of the little buggers.
I'm dealing with earwigs right now. Ugh. They are everywhere this year.

I would have to dip my whole house in it. :))
It's awful. Pick up something, anything, and they are under it. In the tub, by the toilet, under shoes, in shoes, you name it. Arrrrrrrrrrrghhh.

Any suggestions?Fruit flies. That takes me back to sophomore biology. We bred fruit flies in class to prove Mengel's theory of "red eyes", "white eyes" and the chances of producing dominant colors.
Well, that doesn't help your problem but it did take me back half a century. LOL.

Fruit fly traps:
Honey, maple syrup, wine or beer in a container, preferably a tumbler or small bowl. Cover in saran wrap. Poke about a dozen holes in the wrap with a small pin or needle. Place near flies. Flies go in. Overeat. Don't come out.
Whilst trapping:
Poor ammonia down any and all drains in the house. Empty all standing water or liquid containers. Ammonia was all trash cans.
Do not use bleach. They breed in bleach.

We have used the same as Chuangtzu, but with paper cones with a tiny hole at the end (funnels) so that the fruit flies can get in, but don't find the hole out. Works well - though I think I prefer the saran wrap idea.

Thank you for the tips them fruit flys popped up here and bang I had a cloud of them in a short time. Ive done everything I could to make it impossible for them to breed and still have a few flying around.

We have had really good luck putting out a small disposable cup with about 1/4" of apple cider vinegar and a few drops of liquid dish washing soap. They are attracted to the vinegar and once in it can't get back out because of the soap.
We had a few flying around because my wife left her banana peel in the kitchen, put out the vinegar trap and didn't have any by the next day, had about 20 dead flies in the bottom of the cup.

WARNING:
If you have poured bleach down your overflow drain spouts (where fruit flies can lay eggs) DO NOT pour ammonia on top of BLEACH!
Rinse all BLEACH AWAY before using AMMONIA! The vapors from mixing bleach with ammonia are EXTREMELY harmful and can be DEADLY in an enclosed room.
====
To get rid of fruit flies:
Pour about 1 inch of apple vinegar into a plastic cup or old clean can. Cover with plastic wrap and secure with an elastic (rubber band) around the outside of cup or can. Poke one hole in the center around the size of a dime (just ONE hole). The fruit flies are attracted to the vinegar smell, fly into the hole, and cannot get out and drown at the bottom. Toss and replace until you can't see them anymore.
