Okay, so I am now addicted to the new show The Best Thing I Ever Ate on the Food Network.

The stars of the various FN shows talk about their favorite foods they have found while out on their travels.

So I thought we could do this. Give us a category, and then give us your favorite.

I will go first:

Fried Chicken: Mrs Wilkes Boarding House, Savannah GA
Wonderful family style restaraunt that fills your table with 4 meats, 18 side dishes, and a couple of desserts. But for me, it is all about the fried chicken. If I were not at a table with 8 strangers...I would have gourged myself on the stuff!

Fudge: Michigan Dried Cherry, Joann's Fudge, Mackinac Island and Mackinaw City, MI
First off, imo they have the best fudge ever..so creamy. But there is something about the Michigan Dried Cherry...the tartness of the cherries and the sweet and smooth fudge.....to die for!!!!

French Toast: Tony's @ The Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World Orlando FL
Named after the Italian Restaraunt in Lady and the Tramp, this restaraunt serves up some of the fluffiest and flavorful cinnamon french toast anywhere....

My list will grow...but this will at least start us off!

pickled pumpkin...on a bed of funky salad greens

Buffalo Steaks...VERY rare!

Shraz braised short ribs falling off the bone.

Bella Notte (http://www.bellalexington.com/) chicken Marsala with their fresh herbed olive oil dipping oil for their fresh baked bread...sigh. I love that you can either order it as a single serving or as a family setting.

Cheesesteak- Capriotti's, Wilmington, DE

Soft deli rolls, just the right amount of cheese, and meat that simply melts when you bite into it.

Roast Beef Sandwich- Nick's Original, Springfield, PA

I can't put into words the glory of the simultaneously messy and delicious Nick's Original. If you ever find yourself in southeastern PA, just trust me and look them up.

Cheeseburger: The Squeeze Inn in Sacramento, California. If you love cheese on your burger, this is the place to be, although only about 12 people can fit into the place at any given time.

Pizza: In the 70's, there was a place in Bloomington, Indiana called Ivanhoe's that had the best pizza I have eaten even to this day.

Steak: Hands down, it's Ruth's Chris Steak House. I had heard so much about how good the food was, that I went there with the expectation that the steak couldn't possibly live up to the hype, but it was actually much better than I had imagined. A rare feat.

mmm food......

Let's see.

Best breakfast was at Red's Steakhouse in Anniston, AL...they closed several years ago, when the owner passed away...fresh homemade cathead biscuits, sausage was made fresh everyday, gravy... I miss Red's.

Burgers- The Rocket, Jacksonville, AL

Pizza- I've eaten pizza in a lot of different places but Mata's Greek here in Anniston, AL is the best I've ever had. When I've been out of town for a while, the first night back is always Mata's.

BBQ- Smokey Bones in Louisville, KY. The ribs will just melt in your mouth. They offer two different sauces, one's mustard based the other molasses based...the molasses based is awesome.

Mexican- I can't remember the name of the place...it was some little hole in the wall under an overpass in San Antonio, TX. Went there one night for dinner...had fajitas. The next morning I stopped by there for Huevos con Chorizzo...man that was good.

The very very VERY best thing I ever ate was a cake that my son made for my birthday when he was only 4 years old. It tasted awful, but it was still the best. :D

MMmmmmm Godiva dark chocolate mandarin orange crescents are to die for. Just the right amount of orange to not be overwhelming but strong enough to stand up to the dk. chocolate. Oh and lets not forget the chocolate covered praline pecans...

Prime Rib - A steakhouse along highway 34 in Pierre, South Dakota that is no longer there. Can't remember the name. Some farmer just made a steakhouse out of an old farmstead house.

The last time I was there, in the early 90's, it was storming heavily outside. Even saw a funnel cloud out the picture window by our table. The roof was leaking, so we had glasses on our table to catch the drops.

But nobody cared, because it was the best prime rib we ever had.

Barbecue - A small place on the highway near Campinas, Brazil. Brazilian barbecue is dozens of different meats, all spit-roasted over coals in a special type of grill and served all-you-can-eat. They serve side dishes in bowls, family style and waiters continually circulate the dining room, each with a spit of some kind of meat. They come by your table and cut you a piece right off the spit.

When I asked my Brazilian companion what kind of meats they served, he replied, "Oh, cow meat, pig meat, chicken meat, and........various other animals."
