I live in the Seattle area - roughly 30-40 miles east of Seattle. One thing I like about this area is the mild weather. The summer never gets too hot; winter never too cold.
It topped out at 102 degrees yesterday and it's supposed to be hotter today and even hotter tomorrow. In fact, they're predicting Seattle will get into triple digits tomorrow, if not today. Since I'm east of Seattle, whatever weather they are getting, it's a little more extreme here. If it's cold in Seattle, it's even colder here. If it's hot in Seattle, it's even hotter here.
We live in a 100 year old farmhouse. The back side of the house has new windows, but the whole front side (which is the main living area) has original, single pane windows that DON'T OPEN!! I'm soooooo miserable! Oh, and there is no AC in this house. AC is not very common in these parts because it's just not needed much. It was a balmy 93 degrees in the house yesterday, according to the thermostat. It did cool down to a frigid 82 degrees in the house overnight!
We have 20 acres and a creek that runs through it with a swimming hole about halfway down the property. However, Jung took the dog down there yesterday to go swimming and said there were a bunch of wasps down there, so I can't take baby down today!
Jung is a welder/fabricator and goes to work in a full layer of clothing and then has heavy coveralls over that. They don't have A/C at his work and of course can't have fans running because of what they do. So, he welds all day in a hot shop around equipment and materials that heat up to several hundred degrees. I know he is just miserable and I shouldn't complain.
He'll come home tonight and I'll whine about how hot I was all day and he'll pat me on the head and tell me it must have been awful for me......and then turn around and roll his eyes. :))
May I have some sympathy please?

<Hands her a wading pool>

TA-DA! Instant coolness ;)
yes you have my sympathies as we lived in MA about 30 miles inland at FT Devens our quarters didn't AC. Summers were HORRIBLE due to the humidity!

If baby didn't have a firehose attached to him, I would let him roll around naked for the day.
We have a fan mounted on the wall in his room that points right down into his crib. It also blows on his mobile and makes it spin. He loves it. He likes to lay in his crib and talk to his "friends".

I feel for you. I get no sympathy either. Hubby works in automotive shop repairing, welding etc and has to wear them sticky, hot, sweaty polyester uniforms. He is also hot, miserable and not willing to hear about how hot (78) it is in the house. We at least run a window AC in the bedroom and direct (or at least try to) the air into the main part of the house. I was downtown and he asked me to bring him a mocha frappe. It was hot and I was tired but I did it. He deserves it.
If I could send one to you I would. :D

It just hit 104 outside. At least it's only 94 degrees inside the house according to the thermostat.

How's the humidity?
That's what I hate. It can be 80 degrees here, but with 90% humidity...It'll feel like 100...I don't even wanna talk about it when it is actually 100 degrees...

Compared to where you live, the humidity is pretty low. Now if you were to ask my dad, who lives in Reno, he would tell you the humidity is horrible here.
It's currently in the mid-30 percentiles.

Sorry ma'am, but you'll just have to live with the heat. To me 100+ isn't even hot anymore. Of course, 100+ has been almost daily since June 15th here. See location under my join date.

Ah, yes....but "it's a dry heat". I bet you guys hate it when people say that. I don't care how dry it is, 100+ degrees is 100+ degrees!
I know lots of places get extreme heat. My point is that I can't even open windows in my house! :wall:
Plus, I want to whine because I'm miserable! :boohoo:

At this time of the year its not a dry heat. Take 100+ degrees and add 50 to 60% humidity to that everyday and you've got miserable. And if it rains the misery factor is down right .
Open the doors and make sure the screens are closed. That should cool the house down some.

There, there [patting shoulder] it will be all right. The left coast is just going through a little hormonal uprising. (Think of this as a precurser to, gasp, dare I say it? Menopause. At least you know the heat wave will go away some time!

It was 107 in the shade at my house today. By Saturday, it should be down to the low 90s. Almost makes you want to grab a sweater, doesn't it?

Not really worth it. Normal high's for this time of year are in the mid to upper 70's. But I would kill for a window unit right now.
And to my wife, I will gladly trade you tomorrow. I will stay home and you can go to work for me!

It got so hot up in my daughter's room yesterday that an unopened can of pop exploded in there! Her bedroom is the whole upper floor of the house. It's a converted attic, so you can imagine how hot it gets up there. Fortunately, her windows open and we have a window AC unit up there. She was gone all day yesterday and didn't have the unit on, which is why it got hot enough for the can to explode. It probably got over 120 degrees up there.
She takes a fan and puts it right in front of the AC unit and blows it outward so the cold air gets across the room. Her room feels really good! It's probably in the low to mid 70's up there, which is good because she is up there right now recovering from having her wisdom teeth yanked this morning.
Today is supposed to be the hottest of all of the days. It's 3pm right now and 105 degrees outside.
I miss January.

He probably just tells me that there is no AC at work so I feel bad for him. It's probably a cool 65 degrees in the shop and they are feeding him Slushies all day, while I'm sitting here in this horrible heat! :snooty:
