Attention all gun owners

We should be screaming at the top of our lungs over this one!
For those who believe in snopes, it was posted today
http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/blairholt.asp (http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/blairholt.asp)

Concerning the Blair-Holt proposed legislation. Senate Bill SB-2099 introduced by Bobby Rush (D-Ill) it will require us to put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own. It may require
fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.

This bill was introduced on Feb.. 24. This bill will become public knowledge 30 days after it is voted into law.

This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986. This means that the Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all.

This is just another "sneak attack" by the Obama administration to slowly chip away our "Freedom Of Choice" in our Great Country.

If you have any doubt on this proposed amendment that is on the U.S Senate homepage, check it out at: http://www.senategov/ (http://www.senategov/) In checking with Snopes.com & www.TruthorFiction (http://www.truthorfiction/), both list this as the TRUTH

IF you know who to call; I strongly suggest you do so. Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know.

Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if they don’t fully comply. It has started. It is very important for you to be aware of a new bill HR
45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearms Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.

Even gun shop owners didn’t know about this because the Obama administration is trying to fly it under the radar. To find out about this go to any government web site and type in HR 45.org http://45.org/ (http://45.org/) or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information on these sites

Basically this would make it illegal for ANYONE to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless it is registered (the criminals must be jumping with joy, hoping this bill will pass). You are
fingerprinted, supply a current Driver’s License, supply your Social Security number and submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing - Each update or change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25
- Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.

There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Most gun owners will go along with this part of the bill which states that your gun must be locked and inaccessible to
any child under 18. - What they don't go along with is the police would have the right to come into your home unannounced anytime to check that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to
children. The punishment for breaking this law is a fine and up to 5 yrs in prison.

If you think this is a joke, go to Snopes, Truthor Fiction or to the government website and take your pick of many options to read this. It is long and lengthy to tire or confuse the reader but more and more
people are becoming aware of this and reading it thru to the end.

Pass the word along whether you own a gun or not. If there are any hunters in your family pass this along to them.

This is just Obama's "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone
realizes it.

Some criminals may think twice about breaking into your home if they think there is a chance you are armed.
Once you lose that freedom of the "Right To Bear Arms", they'll have no qualms about entering your home to rob, rape or kill you.

This bill is one you need to act on whether you own a gun or not. If they take away your gun or mine, only the criminal will have one to use against us. HR 45 only makes me/us less safe.

Heard Ted Nugent on the radio last Friday. He said this was old news that the NRA squashed like 3-4 years ago, unless they are back at it.

SB-2099 - Bill Requiring Federal Tax on Guns

Take a grain of truth, sprinkle with false and misleading statements, add a heaping dollop of paranoia, and what do you have?

what about a gun I purchased, registered to me, but stolen by someone several years ago?

I will never willingly tell the gov of any guns I own.

That's the only gun that is registered to me.

government: meet Patty's fanny!

no, sorry. I meant to say I went through the background check. but I assume they can trace that somehow?

it sure felt like what I assume a registration is.....but maybe not.

1. Let's see them take my guns.

2. It's much harder to trace an arrow than a bullet. Especially if you recover it and/or use practice heads. ;)

Right after I realized that I paid for ammo with my credit card, I gave up trying to conceal my weapons.

Bullets that you cast yourself are even harder to trace, The lead is so soft and the gases from the powder makes in near impossible to trace

At best (or worst) they could determine that you purchased the gun. What happens to it beyond the date of purchase is none of their business. But by law, those forms or the information on them are not supposed to be kept by any law enforcement agency.

All my guns were stolen, all 12 of them. And I have a copy of the police report to prove it. :snooty:

Impossible. Bobby Rush is a Representative. He can't sponsor a Senate bill. ALso, there is no Senate Bill 2099 in the current Congress. The last Senate Bill is S.B. 1520 as of 7/28/09 at 9:15 am.

The bit about H.R. 45 is true. It was the one sponsored by Bobby Rush of Illinois. However, Rush sponsored a similar bill (H.R.2666 (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d110:13:./temp/~bdymkM::))in 2007, and it didn't make it out of committee. Interestingly, in 2007, he had 16 co-sponsors. In 2009, he has NO co-sponsors. While it's good to be vigilant, there is no need to panic about H.R. 45. Heck, the Senate was 2 votes from a 2/3 majority passage of an amendment that would increase gun rights.

The NRA squashed it in 2007. He is back at it, but in 2007 there were 16 co-sponsors. In 2009, none.
